I've also been working with their team on this issue since my PowerUp 1.7.1 has also be stuck for a few months. The latest update I received was that if you're in the same boat, all that a dealer can do at this point is replace the APIM module to resolve the issue. They're currently working on a remote software fix such that replacing the APIM module isn't necessary, nor would be a trip to the dealer. I'm letting them use my car as a guinea pig on the fix on everyone's behalf. I'll keep everyone posted.

In summary, if you can't wait for a remote fix, the only course of action would be to have a dealer replace the APIM. If you can wait, as I'm doing, there should hopefully soon be a remote fix for this. Aside from obviously not having the update which would improve a few things, my car is perfectly fine so I'd rather not have my dealer take the car apart to replace a module and risk any side effects with that... at least until there are no other options.
What exactly is the APIM module? I searched this forum but couldn’t find a definition. Also, do you know where it is located in the car? Thanks.

When my update failed, it disabled automatic updates and I can’t turn it back on. I recently opened a case with Ford over this issue and after having me do a “key cycle” and “module reset” without effect they said I’d have to take it to a dealer.
What’s a module reset?

Accessory Protocol Interface Module and no, I don't know where it is located. I really think Ford wants to avoid replacing the module now and may not approve my dealer doing it so I've decided to cancel my appointment Monday and wait a little longer. As somebody else said, I would rather they don't tear into my car at this point to replace it because other then that, the car is running correctly and since I've already had the two glass recalls done without any problems I don't want to tempt fate at this point if something would go wrong with replacing the APIM.

I wouldn't let the dealer touch the car if you can avoid it (outside recalls, of course). So many chances of things getting dinged up or software made worse cause these vehicles are so new, maybe once there's more around I'd feel more comfortable.
You're right. I'm cancelling Monday's appointment.

Hold down right seek button + volume down buttons on the right side of the steering wheel for a few seconds and the car “reboots”. This has been documented in several threads here and has helped certain issues where things have locked up for people, but it had no effect for me in this issue.

Both the OTA and Early Access teams told me to go to the dealer to have the Sync update applied. They said their solution would not work in my case. The dealer did apply 21P22 first. But when they tried to apply 21-2310 it failed. They tried 2 times. They sent in the error codes and the logs. They are waiting on Ford on how to proceed. They gave me my car back and it is running fine. The dealer did indicate that they have replaced the APIM in other vehicles having Sync problems. They did replace it in an F150 and a Focus. FWIW it seems this maybe a more common occurrence then I realized (IMHO). I have nothing to base this on other than what the dealer told me.

Ford may try to solve this with a software solution to avoid another hardware recall on the car. Both the bad publicity and cost could be behind them asking us to wait. I guess time will tell.

@breeves002 You may have posted this somewhere before, but do you know where the APIM is physically located in the car and is it difficult for the dealer when they have to replace it (i.e.: is there a lot of stuff that has to be "moved" to gain access to it?).

Almost the exact same situation for me. Not happy it went from "we may need to order and replace APIM to fix it" to "only thing we can do is keep resetting and trying to load the update. Just take the car back and we'll call you eventually".

Interesting thought that was just a sync reset.

Just a heads up. I've heard there is a fix for the 1.7.1 stuck issue, and a new OTA is expected to be pushed sometime soon to the vehicles that have had the issue.

I don't have any more details than that currently.

Glad to hear. The Early Access team sent me an email saying they were working on a software fix to avoid having the dealer replace the module.

Not sure what version it is. Doesn't say but they had it for 5 hours updating and they said they did all available updates
No, that was the update for the CSP. That's not 1.7.1 (Dealer doesn't yet have the capability to manually install Ford Powerup Updates).

You are right, the Early Access team said that CSP 21P22 won't fix it. I am not sure what module they were talking about, but it sounded like a physical module replacement was a fix that they want people to avoid.
