I looked early on and did some early acceleration timing using earlier version of CarScanner, but now there are specific PIDs in the current version that enable customer display of Mach-e sensor data....

Replies #7 and #8 contain more specifics on what to look for to display Power, various temps, and other information that is BEV specific and not visible on our standard Display in the MMEs.

The CarScanner ELM ODB2 app is available both IOS and Android, I will be using it on Android with a Viecar Bluetooth 4.0 OBD2 Diagnostic Scanner for Android/iOS,BLE OBDII Code Reader, Car Scan Tool that I got on Amazon for $25 . The free version was great, but I decided to upgrade to the PRO version of the app and pay the developer a couple bucks in appreciation.

1. download/install the CarScanner app

2. settings
-> MyCars - create a profile for your MME
-> Connection - set up connection to your ODB2
-> Connection Profile - Mustang Mach-e , and apply the profile
...you may also want adjust other settings for desired units, etc.

I'll come back and add some step-by-step instructions when I can make some time to explore further.... There are 9 top level choices:

Dashboard -

Live Data -

All Sensors -

Diagnostic trouble codes -

Freeze Frame -

Noncontinuous Monitors -

Acceleration tests -

Emission Tests -

Data Recording -

I looked early on and did some early acceleration timing using CarScanner, but now I want to dig back into how to create a custom display that will show a couple things I'd like to see interactively (which *should* be available on the regular display in my opinion, but aren't)

specific sensor data, such as various temps, voltages and currents are available and easy to display.... My burning question is how to display actual kW power output/regen using the available streaming data of HV battery voltage x HV current.

Is anyone aware of a tutorial, writeup, or video showing how to multiply two data streams and display the result?

@JimmyMachE reports that the kW can be displayed in current version of CarScanner.... I haven't had time to look yet, but may soon!

It can be done with torque for sure. I'm not sure how car scanner is doing the power reading, I'm not aware of a PID that shows it, and car scanners documentation says they can't do calculations on multiple PID values.

This is what I used on torque until I switched to ABRP to keep track of it.

I'm not looking for torque, just kW, which is simply the battery voltage * battery current.

PWRFLOW is what I want to display full time.... I really want to see kW output/regen/charge as well as battery, motor, and inverter inlet/outlet temps if possible to get a handle on when temperature starts affecting performance and limiting Power

I 'd love to see the Display itself updated or modifiable/customizable someday... but until then we have CarScanner or other apps to play with.

Torque is the name of the app you can get this data from.

Torque is the Android app that reads the ODB device. If you look at his image, you can see one of them is battery capacity in kWh.

Merry Christmas!

In CarScanner you should have the right PIDs already loaded if you are using the MachE profile.

The PID name you are looking for is, “Hybrid/EV Battery Power” which is the power in and out of the battery.

If that point gives you some junk looking data, then you might have the problem I had, which is that there are two PIDs that can give the HV Current, and you might need to change which one is used by the calculation. In my case, “HV Current” was giving correct values, and ”Hybrid/EV Battery System Current” is stuck on -750A.

For that, go to Settings>Sensors, select “HV Current”, and under Role Override, select “EV_BatteryCurrent”.

I attached my dashboards, which you can extract from the zip (you want a file called dashboard.json), import using Settings>Dashboard>Restore Dashboard (I think it will overwrite your dashboards, so save your existing ones before importing if you want to save them). One is setup for general driving and looking at braking, which I’ve been doing recently, another for charging, and another for some system temperatures. They are always a bit of a work in progress, but it might get you started.

Thanks for sharing. Wanted to create a separate profile for your dashboard, then I noticed a new feature in Car Scanner.

I entered new car profile (Settings>My cars), selected Ford Mach-E (Settings>Connection profile), then some new different dashboard showed up. Pretty neat, over 10 pages with Mach-e indicators.

Whoa, the developer has been busy! I created a new profile too and got the big list of custom dashboards. Shows off some of the new dashboard themes too.

I’ll have to play with them a bit and customize, but probably a better place to start than my simple dashboard template.

Car Scanner Elm Obd2 recently got a new feature - trip data over GPS map of the trip.

GPS location must be enabled in Data Recording menu, then trip sensors can be shown as Map+chart. Pretty useful for analysing trip logs.

Not even a rookie with Car Scanner. I've enabled this, and I've imported a nice set of Mach-E dashboards. I plan on watching charging info while charging. Is Car Scanner going to record all this for me, in an easy to review form, or do I need to do screen saves here and there to be able to keep track of it all?

If you enabled "recording", it will record. Just remember the preferred way to end recording is the disconnect the Dongle, and it saves the file while the app is running. Do this from the screen that shows connect and Red disconnect buttons. If recording and you power down your phone, it is noted that it will not save the file. The saved file is graphical and can be displayed together or on separate graphs. No dashboard type data, that I can find.

Can you share where you imported the Car Scanner dashboards from? I tried to create my own, but couldn't get it in a way that I liked.

Scroll down to "json file for Mach-E)

Many dashboard pages now seem to be embedded in Mach-E profile: create a blank new vehicle in My cars, then choose Mustang Mach-E as vehicle profile.
