I was hoping for that! It looks like others are getting the free charging as well. The fine print says it will last until January 3rd but they can modify/cancel the offer at any time.

WOW. This would be AWESOME. We have a road trip coming up 12/27-1/2. Of course, I just paid $4 for the plus pass.

Just drove from TN to Baltimore, due to the colder weather we had to make 4 stops rather than our usual 2. Of those stops, 2 ended up being free. No indication why, just got lucky I guess ?‍♂

Christmas Day will be my first road trip with the family in the MME that will require charging on-the-road. Was planning to stop at an EA charger. I'll temporarily disable plug-and-charge. Hopefully I'll get lucky!

So does the charger show the session is free when you pull up on the display, or not until you plug in?

Awesome! We're driving to FL on 2-3 January. Great timing!

Nice, I expect I might use DCFC for the first time next week on a small roadtrip.

Those of you who have used EA before on these free weekends, have you noticed the chargers as being more crowded than usual?

To avoid accidentally using the charging balance on our accounts, is it still wiser to disable Plug and Charge within the FordPass app before plugging in?

While it usually works to get free charging with P&C turned on, some folks have been charged anyway. I turn off P&C for free sessions to stay on the safe side.

Up here in South San Jose I’ve never seen a crowd on the free charging days. Also, was still free when using plug and charge. But things can go wrong, so you could disable it just in case!

The chargers we hit along I-5 were free, in addition to the one close to home- started the trip in Burbank Tuesday evening and that Walmart stop wasn’t free, not to mention two chargers wouldn’t work for me. Ah, the joys of EA.

You shouldn't have to disable P&C, but it is easy to do so if you want to make sure you don't get charged. During the free weekends, it usually just starts charging immediately without the normal authorization delay.

When I tried to charge in San Diego on the free 4th of July weekend, the first charger I stopped at was full. But this was an urban charger at a big mall that was usually busy anyway. I think the non-urban chargers will be fine. Some EVs get free charging anyway (VW ID.4), so this weekend is no different for them.

Now I have an excuse to stop by my local EA station and check the charging curve above 80% SOC. I pick up my MME from the dealer today (pano/windshield reseal + software update). Hopefully I got the full 21P22 update; I guess I'll find out at EA this afternoon.

Yes they are definitely more crowded on the free weekends, and no I've never disabled P&C nor gotten billed for it. Most of the chargers will display that it is free on the welcome screen, but not always - I think it depends on the manufacture of charger.
