We never paid that much attention when driving ICE vehicles, I think it taught bad habits.
I learned to drive when gas was cheap and cops usually just laughed unless you were 40+ over, so I have no idea what you are talking about. :p It's a much different world now and change can be hard for people, culturally.

C1R has the tech package, which I desperately wanted because driving 540 miles a week in NJ rush hour traffic gave me a bit of a panic disorder! Definitely needed the driver assist features, they make everything more comfortable, even without BC enabled yet. Never had heated anything before and almost everything is an improvement over base Fiesta speakers so those weren't important. I do regret not having AWD though, would have been nice.

I'm now permanently remote and some other things have changed so now I drive more like 30 miles a week, lol.

I have the Route 1 and enjoy it. After owning it for a while now there are still a lot of things that really bug me with the car, but overall I enjoy it, and the issues I have would be on any trim level anyways.

Living in San Diego I did not care about the heated seats/wheel and the auto tailgate is more of a hazard than good if you park in a garage. I do wish I had the LED just because it looks cool, and the audio system really could use some work. Both things I could technically correct after market.
We park in a garage and specifically want the power tailgate as you can set it to not open fully, thus saving the paint from hitting the door if you have a low ceiling garage. Can't do that with the manual tailgate... someone has to just stand there and hold it all the while it is open.

This isn't entirely correct--just went out and tried this with my CA Rt1.

If you open it and let go about 3" from its max open then it continues to max open. If, however, you leave it lower then that it stays at that level (the closer you get to max open the more it wants to go to max open). Even so it doesn't really move that fast...

I'm sure this is all about balance as the struts are there to handle most of the weight of the liftgate so you don't have to muscle it. When the liftgate is in a lower position the springs can't push it open as much as when its closer to max...

I phoned the three NON ADM dealers in my area and let them know I was looking for a Mach E with the extended range, didn't matter Select, CA1, Premium.

Don't care about the Kick to open lift gate.
Don't care about the Premium sound system, I've compared both and this works just fine for me. If you need to let everyone know what music you are listening to at the stoplight, then turn it up a bit more/add a subwoofer like the thread here did
Don't care about Heated Seat/wheel as this is SoCal, never used them in my previous cars, but did enjoy my ventilated seats, wish they had them.
Don't care about AWD, Range was my most needed request.
I'll prolly remove the wheels covers a'la TIMBOP at the 10,000 service to see how I like that style (and dip the spokes with flat black)

The car '21 is great, sporty, and speed is more than enough (0-60 ~5.5)
I don't notice the lights being 'bad' but I do miss the headlight following curve? Where the lights instead of shining forward in a turn, it gives you a side'ish beam.

And the Mrs is learning how to drive, and she loves how it feels/handles.

305 miles versus 300 isn't nothing, but it's only 1.66% more range. Your driving style has a MUCH greater effect on range.
Totally agree. But the range improvement I was referring to was from a Premium with standard range of 230 (RWD) compared to the 305 of the Route 1.

Do some forum searching, there are a lot of cases where the back tailgate will open for no apparent reason. That has resulted in the tailgate getting scratched up as it hits the door. There have also been people who have reported coming out to their car with the tailgate opened in their driveway.

That is the reason why I had mentioned it seems to be more of a hazard than good.

Don’t forget that you can get heated seats installed aftermarket, which is what I did, with my CR1. At the time, Es were very hard to find with extended battery, so there was really no choice.

I do miss the heated steering wheel, though.

It seemed like a stripped down select with some fancy badges to con people into paying a premium for it. In my mind, I would have been losing tons of features for a difference of 35 miles in range. Seemed silly.

I'd rather not worry about it moving on it's own while open. Also I want the door open as far as possible so I don't hit my head. So I stand by my post.

Ah, we've had multiple Ford vehicles with power tailgates and never had this issue. Never even crossed my mind that it would be a problem and never happened upon any of those posts reporting the issue. Very odd.

also happy with our 2021my CR1 but would like heated seats dorman has a kit part #628-040 which I believe would work what circuit is used to draw power from and does it come on when pre -conditioning/remote start?

There are also aftermarket kits for cooling and ventilating your seats too, but you want perforated seats to do that and I think the perforated seats generally only come in cars with heated seats, but I may be wrong.

The issue is if you have heated seats, the way these systems work you have to make modifications to the seats which appear impossible if the seat heating pad is installed. Instead of ripping your seats apart to see what I mean, watch the Sandy Munroe video on the front seats and you'll see that the heating pad is bonded to the top of the seat foam in such a way you would have to destroy the seat heater to put a 2-3" hole for the ventilator in either the seat bottom or rear cushions.

You would have to remove the seat heating pad in order to get the air through the foam cushions. Entirely and that might be difficult to do without harming the foam unintentionally. I doubt you could get a replacement cushion from a base model and try that but it probably isn't identical.

If you wanted to convert your seat heater to a seat ventilation system you could probably do it with a system that senses the current to the old seat heaters and turns on the fans instead, You could probably also control fan speed based on the current going to the seat heaters, but I'm not sure there is enough power in the seat heater circuit to run the fans directly - probably but can't be sure.

That would be ventilated seats - the easier option. The cooled seat kits use fans and a Peltier cooler, which in theory could provide heated air or cooled air (chilled). The problem, particularly with cooled air is that the system makes waste heat which in a factory installation would be vented out the bottom of the car through the floor either directly or with radiators. That's not possible when there is a battery in the way so the best you could do is try to blow the hot air out into the rear footwell. It could get too hot for the materials in the area and it will certainly raise the cabin temperature overall.

Just picked up my Route 1. I had originally ordered a 2022 Premium with the comfort package. HOWEVER, my wife advised a version with greater mileage. Then a dealership who knew I was also looking at the Route 1 had one in stock … the decision was pretty easy. I picked it up on Tuesday :)

What I miss:
  • Lighter interior (I’m not a fan of all black interiors)
  • Power lift gate (I like gadgets, the manual is perfectly fine)
  • Premium sound system (I love good sound systems … but the one in the Route 1 is still pretty good)
  • AC seats (but none of the Mach-E’s have that)
What I don’t miss:
  • Heated steering wheel (I’m on the Central Coast of CA … no need)
  • Multi color ambient lighting … seriously?
Best part of the Route 1 is the range for the price. I’m SOOOO glad I got the extra range. I also think ANY of the Mach-Es are a great choice. This is by far the most fun auto I have ever owned.

I had a few criteria that included a metal roof, extended battery, and AWD. That stuck me with a GT or a GT-PE. I figured that the Performance Edition was still within my price range and Magneride sounded great, so that’s why I reserved/ordered/bought a GT-PE. ?‍♂?
