So I’m expecting my August 1 order (no rez) to be a MY2022 at this point.

How do you get from order number to your rough place in the queue.

My order number is 10369241 (for a premium LR AWD). That doesn't look anything like a number in the range 1..80,000.
If you ordered directly without a reservation, the numbers have no bearing on this we have often discussed. Direct orders starting in late June were issued numbers in the 100,000 and 300,000 range where reservations just a week or so before were 80,000.

I'm confused now. This way of thinking means that MY2021 starts 1 Jan 2020 and ends 31 Dec 2020. Therefore those of you that get their MME'S before 31 Dec get the MY2021 while the rest of us get MY2022. BARGAIN Newer model

Since when?
That is the legal limit of a Model Year. Safety, fuel economy, and emission standards are applied against model years not calendar years, so they must be legally defined.

So, for example, the 2021 Model Year can start Jan 1, 2020, and can go no further than Dec 2021.

I guess this makes sense as a MY can run for two years. As long as I can remember new MY cars have been coming out the Fall of the previous year. Never have I heard of a new MY car coming out in January of the previous year. So, in effect, the 2021 ME can be manufactured and delivered anytime in 2021.

I sure hope there are more than 50,000 battery sets available next year. Otherwise tesla's mess will still dominate. We really need to get to point of widespread competition. Maybe Ford just underestimated the demand. Anyway, batteries seem to be the commodity of the moment. I would assume/hope the battery manufactures are all ramping up through next year.

I am still dumb founded that many buyers ordered $50K to $60K Mustang Mach-E’s / GT’s without ever actually seeing one in person. They only had pictures, videos and specs and still made the decision.

And still they ordered after a pandemic and economic shut down in some parts of the country.

Ford knew what they were doing when they took one of the Crown Jewels of the company and used the Mustang name to make this EV launch.
Even moreso for the Bronco. It's got nearly a quarter million reservations now. It's about 15 grand less than the Mach-e, but factor in the tax credits and it's not too much different.

In fact, if my machdrop FE happens, and I get it in 2020, I'll get $11,500 in tax credits. That takes the FE under $50k. The top-of-the-line Bronco is $51k.

While this new "80,000" number has thrown the forum in a bit if a tizzy, there's still so many missing pieces and fuzzy assumptions in this whole thing that I don't want to read too much into it.

Hopefully it's becoming clear why Tesla built the "gigafactory". It's about the batteries. It's Tesla's one and only competitive advantage. They wisely pour all their money into it, and make sure they stay closely connected with Panasonic.

volunteer 1,400 needed to be meet for salary early retirement. September 8th to October 23rd to sign up.
Ford has launched a special team for Mache in Europe. To help keep the Mache on pace. The demand for ev in Europe could be double what North America is by 2022. The demand is over 80% more and will release 10 more electric hybrids in Europe by the end of 2021.

Ford's goal is to have 30% of sales be EV by 2024.
Fordzilla esports car. video game car.
sales in china up 65%

Mache launch is going still as planned, Ford does not want to let anything out tell the car is 100% perfect. The demand for the mache has caught everyone off guard. China's market is asking for a way to purchase the mache by 2022. The batteries going into the underbody is long process and taking up a lot of time on the line. That is still be worked out as we speak.

Dealers should be getting demo models by the end of November. Farley said if you want one better get the order in. The goal is to find a way to make 70,000 units by the end of 2021 (counting the numbers that are produced this year). The final number of first editions to be made should be known by the end of September.

Ford is checking with dealers this week to cancel the reservations that have not turned into orders ( other than GT). Then Dearborn will be able to put all orders in sequence and start preparing to issue vin numbers mid-November.

That is about all I can say that I know.

For that era, yes. For the last decade, and even still today, there's more demand for batteries than supply. Tesla was smart to build (in partnership with Panasonic) a dedicated battery plant last decade.

But by the middle of this decade, that could all flip around. There's 115 battery megafactories in the works around the globe now. It's ramping up fast.

Never when a vehicle launch does it ever make it on the ( first announced) time to dealers. Tesla was delayed over a year. The navigator well, dealers were getting 2 to 3 at a time.

Only certain Lincoln dealers were allowed to sell them at that point also. Not all ford dealers.
The demand for the navigator so so much ford came up with so many ways to speed up output.

Correct the people who have the orders in early are good to go. People that keep waiting well like anything else your wait is longer. If you want a GT I would say get that in also. Supply and demand.

No different than people waiting on the I phones in front of stores. Or my kid bugging me about this PlayStation 5 coming out. The last time I didn't get one ordered had to wait 4 months for his PlayStation. That was a cluster mess.

People act like well ford said late 2020 if I order august 31st I should still get it this year right lol.
Like anything In life if you want it. Get in on it right away.
I thought he was moving on?

The '97 F-150 went on sale January 1, 1996.

That indicates two things:

1. some vehicles of the 80,000 are going to be manufactured in 2022.

2. if they’re trying to “find a way” that means something is missing which prevents them from producing that many. It’s certainly not manpower, nor is it lack of demand. Parts are likely in short supply. Hence, the lack of a third shift.

The MME launch will not be over until winter of 2022. Is the car worth waiting another 16 months for some of us? Only the customer can answer that.

Calendar year or model year?

If model year, that's improvement. If calender year, it's just what the 50,000 pace would be anyway (the 50k 2021's + 20k 2022's in the latter part of next year).
