I leased a Focus Electric for 3 years. Since the range for the car is so short, I have to charge it to 100% every night. When the car is new, it has a range of 81 miles, but when I returned the car, it has only 60 miles. The reduction in range is quite significant.

One of the reasons I chose the extended range option is so that I can mostly keep the charge between 40% and 75%.

On a long road trip, other than starting at 100%, on the road, you will only be charging to 80%. It takes too long to go from 80% to 100%.

To muddy the picture a bit further... remember that 270 is far from a fixed number too. It's common to talk in terms of "range" because that's what people ultimately care about, but of course what you're really using up is kWh (out of the 88 kWh usable battery). Depending on speed and weather and driving, that Mach-E may get anywhere from 2.5 miles/kWh to 4.0 miles/kWh (estimates). So 270 could be as low as 220 or as high as 350.

I also leased a Focus Electric for 3 years. The range reported on the GOM is highly subjective to your driving style.

On average, however, when I first picked it up it was reading about the EPA range of 70 miles.

3 years later when I turned it in it was still reading 70 miles of fully charged range...no battery degredation at all.

I'm at 2.25 years now on the Bolt with no noticable loss of fully charged range either.

Do you do anything special while charging? Min 20% to max 80% and so forth? Wait to charge until you're under x%? Always keep it around 50% SOC when not driving for a while?

Does anyone know the factory warranty on the Battery? I can't imagine if the battery
needs to be replaced, that seems like a 1/3 of the car.

8 year warranty, but they'll only replace it if max charge drops below 70% of the initial value

The BECM software handles all this... the vehicle owner should not have to worry about this. I doubt you can influence battery life much by trying to manage SOC percentages. You would likely have a noticeable effect on battery life if you Lvl 3 charged every day (or very often).

For the Focus I always charged to full but I used the Go Time so that on most days it was fully charged for about an hour before I would leave to go to work. Only on weekends would it sit for any length of time fully charged (or when on vacation because I'd just leave it plugged in).

For the Bolt I've used two strategies:
  • In winter I put it in hilltop reserve mode which charges to 95% or so and charge it every night (this was because my commute + heater would use a good 30% of the battery)(newer Bolts let you select the % to charge to)
  • In summer I charge to full but only when below 1/2 a "tank" so charge perhaps once or twice a week

Of course now during the pandemic I just wait until below 1/2 and charge. Thus I'm charging like once every two or three weeks. I've found with a bigger battery I can go longer between charges and thus reduce the # of cycles on the battery.

From all the reading/google university I've done on EV battery has said that its the amount of time you leave it at 100% that can cause issues. If you only let it sit for a few hours at 100% vs days (and high temp) then you're good. So far my strategies have seem to be paying off.

My usage is more extreme. Most of the days, it will go from 100% to less than 10%. This is the worst-case charge/discharge cycle for a Li-on battery.

Other than the battery, we enjoyed the Focus very much. In the 3 years, I replaced the cabin air filter and the tires (just before I returned the lease).

My expectation is for MME to be just as reliable.

I think that was supposed to be "12% OFF of EPA rated range", not "12% OF EPA rated range"
You're probably right, but since I can only describe this guy's style as "aggressively misinformed" I don't give the benefit of the doubt by default.
