I wonder how everyone feels. Last night friends asked me if I’d buy the GTPE again. I had to honestly answer NO. I love almost everything about what this car is but the 5 second limiter is to humbling. I was sold a Tesla competitor. The whole 3.5 0-60 and all. No where was I told after 80 there’s nothing left and your top speed will be 125. Granted this isn’t an everyday problem but for the most expensive and advanced GT ever sold, it’s embarrassing to know you’ll lose to your friends wife in the Tesla or BMW. Never mind the Etron. I guess as long as I stick to light to light battles and traffic circles, I’m good. Facing the facts, I live more there than the 1/4 miles walk to 14+ something. I’ll likely sell it before I re-register it!

You have no idea if or when Ford may remove that issue via software.

Life is about more than driving far in excess of the speed limit on local roads and rotaries... o_O

I would also not buy mine again in the MME's current state. I went the standard GT route and I'm still pretty upset about the 5 second limit AND the bait-and-switch marketing material that made it seem as if all GT owners were getting the larger Brembo brakes. The 125 MPH top speed is cool with me since I've never hit faster than that on a track day in any car. Finally, Ford is super slow to roll out OTA updates to fix one of the many bugs that the car is plagued with. I'd be even more upset if I spent the $5,000 more for the performance edition.

if you aren't happy with it, trade it on a GT500 or something. Plenty of people here waiting on one that will be very happy with the current performance. Really, who cares about the 5 second issue? Probably less than 1% of current MME owners, so Ford probably isn't in too big of a hurry to change it until they have years of data on the battery pack.

Way more people than just 1% want this issue fixed. It's constantly mentioned, it's noted in every review and I'm sure that Ford is losing many GTPE orders because of it. It's being marketed as a performance EV that can't even hold its own on a track unless you put it in gimp mode... aka unbridled extend.

Agree completely. It should have been explained proactively. Freaking Model Ys can out run my GT. Is it super critical? YES! When you buy a sports model with all the power and specs, you don’t expect to be knee-capped. I’m all for protecting the battery, etc. but to not have an override function or track mode is ridiculous. It could even be limited so you can only use it 2 or 3 times a week or whatever. I spent $60K on this car because I wanted the beast, not the sheep.

Luckily anyone who wants out can get out right now and break even or possibly even make a profit.

If you’re not happy, sell it right now while you still can. It will only go down in value from here.

Just like with any investment: “Every day you don’t sell is like choosing to buy it again at the current price.”

For me? This morning I decided to “buy mine again.” Will do the same tomorrow as well.

For the record I do love my car and hate the 5 second limit. Still hopeful they fix it.

If they don’t and someone comes to market with something better? Then I would sell. But that car doesn’t exist yet for me.

I think this is more an appeal to Ford. If you don’t care, fine, don’t care, but don’t negate other owners that do care or think it’s bullshit & just tell us all to sell our cars or go pound sand. THIS AIN’T TESLA & if you’re an apologist or fanboy, don’t take it personally if other people have LEGIT complaints.

I would definitely do it again. All I ever heard Ford promise was a 0-60 of about 3.5- which it does- never saw anything from Ford about quarter mile or trap speed, so not sure why some people suggest they’ve been misled- and frankly, having known beforehand it was a 5000 pound crossover (at least 400 pounds heavier than a Model Y), I never expected it would perform like a sports car. For it’s size and weight, I think it’s a blast. And for me, sport seats, Magnaride, and summer tires on better looking wheels made the PE option a no brainer. Sorry that some people feel let down, but I’m not among them. My ‘17 Mustang GT PP Vert is fast and fun…. but my 5000 pound crossover is just about as fast in the quarter, and I don’t think anyone is saying my Vert shouldn’t have a GT badge…

To be fair, no one has hit 3.5 seconds.

The “mislead” was in the 480hp.

They advertised 480 hp. Not 480 hp “sometimes” and 240 hp other times (which is what we get).

Every other manufacturer advertises the details if they have a temporary hp “boost mode.”

That’s the crazy part. I guess being a life long Mustang owner, I would think this would upset more owners. I guess having the “almost as fast as a Tesla” is okay for most. Just embarrassed that Ford couldn’t do what a start up did.

Heck no, I need the 4 doors and all wheel drive in Colorado. I’d buy the Etron first and smoke the 500. Sadly, those are words from a Mustang enthusiast.
