Hi all....I'm new here and this is my first post. My Mach E GTPE was delivered to our dealership on Friday (it's been sitting at the shipping lot since Jan 8th and I've been nagging my dealer to find out why it's still there). I received a text message from my salesman telling me they had my car, but the transport driver backed it into their fence and damaged it. He sent me pictures yesterday. I'm so frustrated and angry. Like everyone else, it's been a LONG wait. And now it's damaged. It's currently in the body shop. They are replacing the damaged panels and tail light. I have the option of accepting it once it's 'like new' again or saying no and ordering another new one. Which will be a 2022, more $$ and likely another year wait. And I know the dealership will have this one sold within the day to someone else. So I kind of feel like I'm getting shafted either way. They've made no offers to sweeten the deal for us. They just say it's not their fault. Which I understand, but this is our 3rd new vehicle from them in 3 years. I've added a picture of the damage. Has anyone else dealt with something like this?

The damage appears superficial but I would also check underneath the vehicle. It should be as good as new after it is repaired. So it really comes down to do you want it now or later - probably a bit more expensive. I would be just as frustrated as you are!

if there is no record of it being in a body shop and they dont ask for more than MSRP, i would accept it.

I agree with the above, if they are going so far as to give you new panels so it looks perfect, I wouldn't sweat it.

It sucks that it's a Day 1 occurrence, this is when anyone would care the most about their car looking pristine, but the reality is you're likely to gather little nicks and scratches and whatnot from a vehicle used as a daily driver, so perfection is very much fleeting.

Sorry to hear and unfortunate......I am on the fence on this bc I want my new ride to be 100% brand spanking new but also understand SH&* happens.......
If the wait is unbearable, I would take it and call it a day assuming the completed repair is solid as new......

If you order another one, yes the wait is/maybe a year but also updated software/bugs......

So now the question is Will You do it........I am leaning on the latter.......IMHO

They're going to replace the panels? Like, they're going to weld in a new quarter panel?

I feel like this is going to be a brand new car with a bondo'd up rear end.

One of the problems is how EVs drive different and people unfamiliar with them crash into things.

We were told they are replacing the damaged panels as the transport company is paying for the repair. They have all the parts in except 1. I've asked for an eta on the repair.

A second on this being a Bondo repair. The rear quarter panel is typically structural. It's a massive job to replace it. This will be hammered out, sculpted with filler, and repainted. It might look good for a few years, but in a decade it will have an obviously different color, texture and perhaps corrosion.

This is a tough situation. That car is going to be repaired and sold as new. If you don't accept it, it's going to someone else. With the supply shortage, it's probably going to sell with ADM. The dealer is going to profit now and still have your order as a future sale. Ford isn't likely to help.

I'm totally conflicted and angry that we've even been put in this situation. The MRSP is almost $90k on this car in Canada. At the moment, I feel like I'm getting shafted.

Ask to see the complete bill of materials for the proposed repair before you make your decision. Lots of people here are saying parts aren’t going to be replaced but rather repaired. Easiest way to find out is to confirm by getting the parts list.

My two cents... since this is a dealer (and not a shady backyard bodyshop) there will be a record of the job being in a collision and being repaired. This will greatly affect the resale value of the car. As much as it sucks, I would either walk away from this or insist on a reduced sale price to offset the loss of value. (Walk, walk, walk)
