For the first week of owning the Mach E I kept a key in the glove compartment in a Faraday bag as a backup. Since then I’ve been using PaaK exclusively (3 weeks now). Maybe like 4 times I’ve had to restart the app or manually unlock; the minor inconvenience of that I find outweighs having to carry around another thing. Just was curious to start a poll to see if anyone else uses it exclusively.

Wifey has the fob, I have my phone. I've been reduced to passwords a few times, but it sure beats carrying that hilariously huge fob around.

I've used it for months now. Similar, every so often I have to play with the app for a few seconds to get Bluetooth to connect but it so rare that the value of not caring around a key in my pocket far outweighs it.

While I've never needed to do it I know if something catastrophic happens and my phone fails I can always open the door with the PIN code and start the car with my password.

I can pay with my phone, start my car with my phone, now if I could just have my license on my phone it would be so nice to have one device.

Use PAAK exclusively unless going on long trip, I bring fob just in case the worst happens

IMO, anyone relying on PaaK as the way to start their vehicle, given the known issues, is just begging for a "oh no, I can't start my car, and have to call an Uber or a tow truck" experience. It will happen, and has for some.

We got a 2nd key, free from the dealer, right after buying the car and having issues. I use PaaK when going out to the garage and forgetting to grab a key. I would never use it to drive exclusively. I don't trust it.

Funny story about PaaK. I was seeing all these issues with PaaK right before I bought my MME and decided I’d not use it. Well one day I was parking at the store and couldn’t feel my fob in my pocket. Come to think of it, I hadn’t remembered seeing the fob for at least a week. Turns out I’d been unknowingly using Paak and never noticed ?

This is exactly the F.U.D. that I was hoping to clear up with this thread. I’ve only had the car for a month but PaaK has been reliable for me and worth what seems like a minimal risk going forward based on others usage.

With 2 fobs it serves no purpose for me to use PaaK.

Not making any commentary about who is right or who is wrong, but I find it funny that these two experiences Co exist. Confirmation bias is a real thing

Your decisions are made on posts in a forum? I've used PAAK for every trip in my car since April 2021 and never had a failure. I have no concerns that it will eventually happen since there's a backup method to use the car if that should ever happen.

I think a lot of factors are in play. The model of phone, the apps on the phone, the demands on the Bluetooth port, etc. But once it's solid with a particular phone setup, as it is in my case, it's consistently solid.
