The dealership I bought my Mach E Premium AWD ER through has been hounding me the past two days to buy my car back. They are promising to buy back for more than it's worth if I order a 22' model. With an additional promise of giving me a deep discount on the new model. They are citing low inventory as the reason for this "deal".

Not sure I believe anything they're saying.

Anyway, I'm waiting on numbers for a 22' GTPE. ?

If they are willing to pay a specific price, then that price is, by definition, what it is worth (to them). Selling it at that price would not be selling it for more than it is worth. If you do not take the offer, then it is worth more than the price of the offer to you. By the way, this would be a nice example of reverse ADM. How about ACM--Additional Customer Markup?

With that logic, Wouldn’t selling it mean that OP was offered more than it was worth to the OP?
Boom, semantics police-ZERO ?.

2022 GTPE (sold after 2mo - suspension sucks!)

I assume they want the car now while the market is hot and you'll get the GTPE when it eventually arrives later this year.

What are they proposing you drive in the interim?

I say go for it if you want to upgrade and have another means of transportation and the ability to wait.

It’s legit. Quite a few people have done this.

This is what we call a perfect example of putting a price tag on “time.” Willing to wait? That’s worth money. Impatient? That’ll cost you.

Price it with Carvana, Carmax, Vroom, etc. Dealer will be $5k+ lower. Ordered car might be a 2023.

Nope. It would mean that the offer was equal to or greater than it was worth to the OP. Boom, math logic police….

Haha I knew that was coming. Realistically no one would go through the trouble of selling and buying a car without coming out ahead… Boom, common sense police! Haha

And welcome to a little thing called “inflation”. My dealer hinted around about this to me as well. I don’t see how I could jump on the deal given my Mustang Mach e is my only car and ford is busy decontenting the new models ?

I tried to pull this when selling my Focus RS to a local dealer. I told them to add sales tax and an AMV to the offer price. They laughed, and my response was, "Well, you do this. What makes it funny? Because it's ironic?"

I asked that question, specifically. Waiting for an answer.

You won’t get an answer as that’s your problem not theirs.

They can always sell you another car. But that would financially wreck this whole deal.

What I would do? Don’t sell your car, order a GTPE and negotiate X plan. Then sell/trade your current car when it comes in.

The deal they offered is good, but only if you already had an extra car.

Absolutely. Honestly, I'm super happy with my car and won't force anything. Just curious what they will offer. If it's good enough, maybe I'll make arrangements. Doubtful it will be, though.

What is more than it's worth? They aren't buying it back if they can't sell it for more than they're paying you.
