I hate to say it, it kind of looks like a Mach E and a Model 3, had a child......Anyway neat car. I do not think I could do it.

Good review!

List of things I would like in our car:

ventilated seats
Heads up display
7 yr comprehensive warranty
AC outlet
More than 5 seconds of boost
Faster charging

Things I don’t want:
ugly

I’ll stick with the Mach E.?

If the timing were better (i.e. if the EV6 were coming out sooner), I'd probably have cancelled the Mach-E and gotten one of these. I like the interior better and the charging speed is to die for.

Looking at it straight on its kinda cool. Come around to the side and especially the back and it falls apart very quickly

Bjorn's comments while driving indicate he really likes the EV6 (even with the harsher suspension than the Model 3/Y and Mach-E)

I'm hesitant in ordering one because of all the weird glitches (reminds me of the ID.4). The manual states you need to turn off the car before DC charging - then once plugged in, you can turn it back on. If you don't do this, you can zombie your EV6 for a bit.

I'd wait 9+ months for Kia to iron out the issues.

The Koreans have landed. EV6 spotted in Philly (prospective owners tracked two ships with EV6s landing in the US - one in Philly and the other in Brunswick, GA).

This car is the best contender to the Mach E in my opinion. Vehicle to load, ventilated seats, the charge times; there's a lot to like. And I know folks are calling them ugly, but if you look at it side by side with a Mach E, their lines are actually pretty similar. The Kia actually does a good job of eliminating the former "grill" area, but I'd still say overall the Mach E is better looking. As mentioned above, if the timing were a bit different on this car, I might have chosen it over the Mach E.

I’ve now had a chance to drive both. Currently have an MME GTPE stuck in production since 1/24, which has given me the chance to cross shop with an EV6 GT Line AWD.

The MME is definitely much faster off the line, but not at highway speeds. The Kia pulls harder up top. Having said that, 0-60 in ~4.5s is nothing to sneeze at.

The Magneride shocks are a wonder. The ride is a bit better in the MME, and I’m sure better still in unbridled if you want the car to hunker down. The ride quality in the Kia is very good, but obviously it compromises the flexibility of an active system. IMHO it is far better than anything besides the GTPE.

If you need a frunk, read no further. However, rear storage in the Kia is actually quite good. Depending on what you’re putting in there, it might be a better configuration.

Styling. This one is highly subjective. Personally I still prefer the MME, but the Kia will not elicit the wrath of the “Notastang” cult. You also will not be challenged by every asshole in a Tesla while rolling… The rear of the Kia is growing on me, but yeah, not love at first sight.

Infotainment. The resolution is far better on the app portion of the MME, and it looks more up to date. However, the screens on the Kia do not look like an afterthought glued to the dash - they are well integrated. The icons just look dated. I also like the amazing amount of control you have from the steering wheel or console buttons of the EV6 without having to take your eyes off the road, including drive mode, level of regen, etc. I hear the sound systems are comparable with a slight edge to the Ford.

Interior - both look nice. The Ford is cleaner because so many of the controls are accessible through the touch screen only, so not a lot of buttons or clutter. Depends on your preference, but I do not like having to rely so heavily on a single point of failure. There are less hard plastics in the MME and it just feels a little more upscale, surprisingly so for a Ford. Yeah, backhanded compliment…

There are a host of features the Kia has that are not available on the MME including HUD, cooled seats, 800v charging, vehicle to load, a working sunroof, reclining and heated rear seats, heat pump on this model (may not be important to all), blind spot camera display on dash (amazing), and all that level 2 driver assist stuff/360 camera is standard.

Warranty. Hahahahahaha. Now, i don't know from experience which company is going to be more difficult to deal with as far as customer service/honoring that warranty. I've heard bad things about both.

It’s probably because the car has not been out long enough, but I’m seeing very few complaints or issues with the Kia. The MME? Um. Many have been addressed with updates, but wow…

Having said all this, I was still going to give the Mach-e the nod, but I’ve grown increasingly frustrated at Ford’s handling of the “chip shortage”. It looked like there were several weeks in January where there was in fact a problem, so they continued to build cars and then place them in a holding area awaiting their final chip compliment. However, it's pretty clear that from build week 1/31 on, they are getting chips, but they’re going into the newer builds while the older ones sit and rot. There are folks that have a build week of 3/7 whose cars have already been shipped. Watching this happen daily for that last six weeks, I’ve decided I’ve had enough. If my car is not “built” by Friday I’m out. I’ve got an appointment on Sunday to look at a Kia coming in this weekend.

The vehicle to load function is worth thousands of dollars to me. I strongly considered trading in my MME for that function since it could replace an Ecoflow Delta Pro 3.6 kWh battery at about $3,500. Apparently the EV6 can put out 1900 watts continuous for 36 hours with the VTL tech. Unfortunately, the markups are pretty bad and I can’t get over paying above MSRP for a Kia.

Looks nice, but I like the exterior and interior better of the Mach E.

Cool. I am glad you found something you can get. You should always buy what you like, period, Be sure to join the Kia Forum. If the Kia was not Improved, I would be worried, it was released a year later than the Mach E And should be improved as it was surely engineered and benchmarked against the Mach E after release.

It does seem to have the things some people comment and want to add to a Mach E…….….. Heat Pump, Cooled seats, wider tires, Opening roof, automated highway lane changes, 120V power source, reclining back seat, Etc etc. I do not know if I would use the extra 3D camera views over what I get from the Ford 360 camera but it’s neat. Also it has an Eco mode that disables battery conditioning for higher Winter efficiency but will sacrifice overall winter battery capacity.

Unfortunately, they missed a few things like wireless CarPlay, hands free driving and a frunk.

I also like the Ford Options low interest financing and the $2500 rebate I got.

I am anxious to see if it sticks to EPA range or Does 18% higher in the summer months, like the Mach E.

Finally my local Kia dealer is a crook and they are terrible, so I could not consider Kia as an option. My Ford dealer is top notch. The next closest kia dealer is 2.5 hours away.

Yeah, the Ford Options thing would have been great, as would the launches. :) I didn't get BC/pano roof, as I don't think I would ever trust a car enough to let go of the wheel, so I won't miss that. Frunk would have been cool. Wireless CarPlay would have also been nice, but at least I can do it via USB

I just have no faith in them finishing the car anytime in the near future. It's one thing to wait for chips if they are distributed in a sequential order, but this all seems like chance. If your car is stuck in the middle of the lot, it could be a week or 6 months. They are putting them in the cars that are the easiest to access, starting with the ones going down the assembly line.

The Kia /Hyundai is 91% Korean, 3% Japanese and 1% American. I do not know the others (at least my 19 Ioniq is, Hyundai basically makes everything for the car, even the Glass) so supply chains are easier to manage, but shipping/transport is probably the biggest challenge. I know it was in late 2019 for the last of the 28 kW Ioniqs. Huge port/transport delays.

any idea how the ride comfort compares between the EV6 and the MME AWD ER?
