For those following, I tried disconnecting the battery this morning. This accomplished nothing at all.
I messed with the balance and fade some more trying to find something that seemed close to my expectations. What I found is that it isn’t just the rear speakers with almost no sound, it’s all 4 door speakers. Moving the balance/fade, all the way to any one corner, or to the center rear, cuts off the middle channel and you can then hear that all 4 door speakers are very low volume comparatively.
So perhaps the problem is not with the rear speakers, or the front door speakers, but too much power going to the center channel in the dash.
So I dropped the car at the dealer. It’s next door to my car rental place and I needed a rental for work for the next couple days anyway. Since I was up there I left the car with the dealer and will see what they find when I get back to town. I suspect it will be nothing and I’ll be told that the sound is as it was meant to be. But I know better.

Thanks for the update, hopefully they find an easy solution applicable to others as well.

I have surround on. It’s what I used in my premium. Let me try without surround.
Nope… even on stereo with the sound all the way back, there’s almost nothing. Good suggestion though.
I've observed the same. I'm at 9k and will try to have it addressed, as well as PAAK, during my 10k oil change. My car was in the body shop for 6 weeks but the body shop was too difficult to deal with to address it then, most likely at a different dealer.

I don’t like the “surround” setting. Way too much out of the dash center speaker.

Stereo sounds better to me for music.

It’s like this on my home theater as well.

My gut says they’re going to tell you it’s acting as designed.

I'm not a car stereo expert, nor do I play one on TV, but it sounds like an amp being misconfigured or maybe the door speakers are connected together and one has the polarity reversed or something.

Just got a called my dealer to check up on the car (can I get it back this morning or not?).
The tech has confirmed that there is almost no sound from the rear speakers… but doesn’t know what to do about it. So he opened a case with Ford and is awaiting a reply. He’s wondering about whether it may need new speakers and if Ford will authorize swapping them out. I doubt that will be the fix, but it might be a start to a radio system update.
I encourage the rest of you who have this symptom to also get your car to the dealer to get a complaint registered. Like the wind noise, enough complaints and maybe Ford will address it for all.

Wasn’t there a DSP module update for this issue in FDRS?

I’m about ready to bite the bullet and order the stuff to do my own FDRSing in order to get the wife blue cruising (when available to us plebes) and get my GT the better charging curve. Maybe there is something in a module update to help my sound as well.
Sadly I’m thinking the same thing as you. The update by dealer is a joke because they won’t do continual updates unless there is a customer satisfaction program in play. So like you I’m in the same boat, any improvements won’t be seen until the dealer applies them. OTA is a joke because it mostly targets the cosmetics and not the modules.

OTA is a joke and the frequency is way too slow. I’m an owner for a year now and no BC for me. Being in the EA program hasn’t given me any advances in terms faster newer updates.

So basically I’m in FOMO mode.

There was for non-functioning speakers. Mine work but the sound is super low.

I have this issue too and got a round of updates done last month. No changes in sound after the update.

Actually I was able to adjust the fader to equal the audio between the front and the back. All is good!

But doesn’t it seem weird to have to set the balance to the back of the back seat to get centered sound. And if you move that sound one more notch rearward, then you have almost NO sound. Doesn’t seem right at all.
Ford told the tech at my dealer to do a “pin test”. I never got a word back.
