I got my GT and it is really nice. What a powerful machine and very comfortable.

I was counting on a usable range of 270 miles so for some of my planned trips I would not have to charge for a round trip if I didn't have too. However now after multiple charges the most I can get on the range after 100% charge is around 230 miles. This is 15% less than my expectation. I have read the threads on cold weather but it has not been that cold here.

Do other users find the same thing? The real range you can charge up to is only 85% of the estimated range from Ford?
OP We're only giving you a hard time because we are tired of seeing this question about once or twice a week (more often in the wintertime).

The "guess-o-meter" on the dash is notoriously pessimistic and isn't necessarily your true range. Drive the car for a couple weeks and watch it change. Your driving habits, temperature, and other factors will all contribute and the estimated range will dynamically change on a daily (and seasonal) basis.

The manual states all of this information.

Also, lol, at the bottom of this exact page:

Honestly, Ford really just needs to "lie" to us and give everyone the EPA range (maybe with the pessimistic range next to it in smaller font, or with an option to toggle between them). I'm starting to think Tesla's false "EPA range" was actually a good idea, to prevent uninformed users from complaining about it.

Remember Volkswagen and the diesel EPA
How did that happen if the EPA Was in control ?
The manufacturers control the way EPA readings are reported in all the numbers are generated

Kind of like the way Boeing and airbus control the FAA which is why we got the 737 max crashing into the ground

You can read about it but not in the Wall Street Journal or most publications
I don't remember saying the EPA was fully in control. The EPA audits some, not all. What I said is Ford did the EPA rating and chose to use a slightly smaller number. Or it could have been they used a more conservative factor in the calculations. I can't remember.

Tesla rarely meets their EPA numbers MME can more often.

They put the wrong battery in your car

One question is, did your previous car have an estimated range display? It seems this range display is new to many people, so they never used it before.

While these threads are repetitive and the responses can be humorous the real issue is that a lot of people who buy EV's already have a lingering concern about range and going from a 400 mile performance ICE SUV to a 270 mile EV is already a major issue. When they see that they can only get 85% of that already painful number, it just adds salt to the wound. My Audi SQ5 gets the EPA 380 and often times about 400-420.

I think it should be required for EVs to provide a range (as in 180 - 270) on the sticker based on real world environmental differences.

As someone who has owned 2 EV's - When people ask me about the MME it's on the top of my complaint list. So, while we laugh at these threads, those who travel a lot will revert to ICE because it's really not that funny.

It will increase as the weather improves and you get more miles on it. I am just under 7k and just now got 250 at 100% today. My prior Mach e actually was higher than the epa rating. I would get almost 300 off a 100% charge It will take time but it will increase. I was barely getting 220 on 100% a month ago But it was colder
