Mach E Extremely noisy when going into D or R

So for the 4 months I've had my GT it's been in the shop half of it. Going back in in a week for a chip the dealer put in the door.

My questions is, I swear the car was almost dead silent after shifting into D or R. Now is hums like a TIE fighter. It's loud. I don't remeber it ever sounding like that. Or maybe I just can't remeber. Anybody GT really loud in gear??

I only notice it when my windows are down.

I am jealous of the sound my neighbors Cayenne Hybrid makes though. Sounds way cooler!

Maybe the chip change reset your setting for the sound.

I have a Premium and mines started doing it also. I haven't had any service done so I was.surprised to hear the humming sound.

That doesn’t make noise when you just shift to Drive. This is the pedestrian warning sound.

Drive faster. Seriously. the sound goes away at roughly 18 mph in the USA. It’s designed to warn pedestrians and cyclists that a car is coming. ICE engine make enough noise to warn those with their backs to us, or the visually impaired, that a car is coming, ours don’t without this hum.

This is a legal requirement in both the USA and EU (and elsewhere). It’s been the law since (wait for it) ….

George W. Bush was President. It’s just taken this long to implement the standards.

As for why many of us haven’t heard it? My guess is weather. Windows are rolled up and it’s harder to hear. And for most the car is still new.

Since the law and regulations do not stipulate the exact noise I really think we ought to have the ability to select our low speed warning sound. And that expansion pack absolutely has to include the Jetsons.

I've recently noticed louder hum as well. I have a base GT. I was thinking about taking to dealer, but otherwise operating just fine. Maybe not needed?

There is not setting for the sound.

Yes there is. You can turn the ambient sound mode on or off with each driving mode. In Whisper it is off by default. Check the sound settings on the big screen.
