I’m not very confident that I will have it for my road trip in July! Just glad that we get to have it for a free trial period, otherwise I probably would have just passed on Blue Cruise.
July is 100 days out so anything is possible; it takes a week to get all the 5-7 updates so its possible. The bigger question is how many cars will Ford send the updates to in waves? If they open the updates to a larger pool of vehicles at the same time, they can get this done quickly. The issue to me is that they obviously don't want to brick cars and only Ford knows how many different pools of software updates they are dealing with given the various versions of firmware at the hardware/module level. We are seeing reports of failed installs at 2.4.2 and 2.4.3 via OTA so I am thinking Ford is trying get their arms around this. There is still time that by July they would have solved the issues for a broad number of vehicles and would make it available for a larger group.

Folks, remember that you do have another way to look up your status to see if you have an install pending, successful, etc.

Use Chrome to view the JSON data on the owner.ford.com website:
  • Run Chrome, hit the dot menu at top right go to "More Tools" and then "Developer Tools" (or press (Ctrl+Shift+I)
  • At the top menu of the developer tools click on "Network"
  • In the Filter box type OTA
  • Go to owner.ford.com and log in, go to vehicle dashboard
  • on the list of links on the network tab in developer tools you should see some that say "status?country=us..." click on each, one of them will show some data (JSON)
  • Hit the triangles next to "fuseResponse", then "fuseResponseList", then "0"
  • In that list you'll see "latestStatus"
It was posted in https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/ota-update-status-hidden-in-the-ford-website.12367/

It should show if something is pending. If you have something pending and the car doesn't show "update now" go for a drive!
what is it says..... fuseResponse: null

It's sad that we've gone from hoping for Q1 to expecting them to possibly miss Q2... My last update was on 2/16 to 2.3. At this rate, my 2022 will arrive (March, no May, no March, maybe April) and I'll take it to sell the 2021 "without BlueCruise"....

That's an absolute failure on Ford's part. Full stop.

If I serve as any kind of data point, I'm on EA (just since beginning of January) and have been on 2.3.0 for a month with no sign of further updates, and had to even force that issue via the dealer because it kept failing. That said, my EA page has never said I'm participating in anything either, BC or otherwise.

The good news is so far the failures all seem to have failed “gracefully” in that the user can just try again and the car is not bricked.

2.4.2 seems to be the biggest stumbling block so far. Which makes sense, it is their first OTA Update of the powertrain.

The fact that we aren't hearing about OTAs bricking Mach Es leads me to disagree completely. I'd rather Ford be slower and keep the cars running. They've been finding issues during the rollout and improving the updates. The more cars they update, the better they are making the updates.

Day 6 since 2.4.2. Still on 2.4.2. My car is connected to wifi while at home. I've been driving it daily for 10mins to 30mins at a time. Auto updates enabled. I've also got updates scheduled for every evening.

At this point, I'm resigned to having to go beg at the dealer to get any updates. I'm pretty sure no job 2 updates will be offerred before MY 23. Hope to be proved wrong.

Besides the improved charging curve and a few games what updates are you missing?

Yeah I’m not sure why the J2 cars even care. I didn’t realize they didn’t get the updated charging curve from the factory, so I guess there’s that?

Some of us J1 owners have been waiting a year just to get caught up with J2. We are the beta testers. And it has been a tedious process at times.

I have just embarked on my third ultra long road trip to NJ, 1.200+ miles journey in two days of continuous driving with an overnight in Smithfield, NC.

On my first charge at EA in the Avenues Mall @JAX I met Patricia MacCormick from Ford Charge Angles testing a Premium AWD std battery ... then on my next stop at EA Walmart Lumberton NC I bumped into Rugero Fratarcangelli from FordLincoln Training Group testing a brand new orange GT !!!

Then while parked overnight, at Hampton Inn in Smithfield I got my OTA bringing my FordPower Up to v. 2.4.3 ... then just today parking under freezing rain in Hillsdale NJ I got another OTA now bringing my SYNC4 up to v. 2.4.4

... I really don't now what all this means but I am certainly excited. All these OTAs were successfully installed without connected to Wi-Fi ... I am just wondering since I purchased this vehicle in NJ and whether this influenced in my updates to be rapidly installed. When I was in FL I hardly got any OTA updates and the car connected to my garage WiFi every night. My car is a Job 1 production date of March '21.

OK, how do I get to the displayed screen? I went to the car and turned it on , touched the car symbol, scrolled to the Sys Update, touched settings and the display did not show the software version - help. (2021 Star White GT EP Picked it up 20 January.)

Here’s the short answer. There is no one software version, that screen only shows the last software update you received. Your car is new enough to not have any software updates yet. All the updates that are going out now are for early build cars to get them up to the level you are already at.
