(edit to add a true story about why I know about this comic)
I used to work full time as a Unix admin (mostly HP-UX, some Solaris, some other stuff you probably never heard of)... I had this comic printed out, hung on my cube wall, with a nickel taped to it.
I am probably familiar with that other stuff, having done quite a bit of Unix sysadmin stuff, along with storage and backup. I always liked Dilbert comics, I could relate to his world. I've had several pointy haired bosses.

All I can say is. I think I speak for everyone here.
When I get to the dealer to pick up my mache. It better be fully charged and ready to go. I'm going drain that battery all the way down first day driving.
I live 5 minutes from my dealer. I'll push the damn thing home if I have to and charge it here if it means not delaying an extra day there to charge it!

I am in Dallas and still did not see any $2500 for the mach e as a rebate
All I can say is that it was there. My friend who works at one of the largest ford dealerships in the country in LA were commenting about it when ford first announced the Ford Option plan.

Ah, but did you have a Commodore 64? My first computer. Well, if you don't count my TI SR-52 I had in high school, which technically was a computer too. Sort of. I wrote little programs for it and used little magnetic strips to read and write from.

Digital Research CP/M and MP/M - Wordstar SuperCalc Dbase - PDP-11 with paper tape - DOS with DesqView - Windows 3.x to NT3.51 then diverted to Unix SunOS, Solaris, Irix, RHEL, Suse - Mosaic Netscape Xwindows BASIC C++ perl EMC NAS - etc. I am getting a little bit old, maybe. That's why I need the Mach-E so I can retire and and enjoy driving my red barchetta ?

Yep, If you didn't write your programs on IBM Punched Cards in the early 60's --- you are still just a young pup.

CP/M and PDP-11 Wow.. That's ... old! No offense! I did go the unix, linux, redhat route as well, but not as deeply. Yeah I forgot to mention NCSA Mosaic and Windows NT 3.51 Learned gwbasic -> qbasic -> turbo pascal -> c -> C++ -> java.

My dating life expressed in basic code:
10 GOTO 20
20 GOTO 10

Do you remember the original worm game called nibbles through QBASIC and that gorilla game that they threw bananas? I found it online!

Good times!

I moved UP to punch cards in college (COBOL class) from a teletype and paper tape in high school.

1 hour to either showroom from our place. If my dealer actually tells me my MME is on the lot, I’ll be shocked, have a heart attack and die in all probability. Customer service can be a bit “off.”

PDP-11 was not that old, it sold from the 70s to the 90s. I worked with them in the late 80s, even early 90s I think. Basically were terminal servers and 56k routers, maybe T1. Was also our first ethernet device / router that routed TCP/IP for all the other DOS devices, barely predated Windows (at least windows 3, no one used 1/2), but IBM PC was a thing. The internet back when it was only Universities and the government...

Also of course the whole TRS-80, commodore Pet, commodore 64, Applie II, etc... growing up.

I have to admit dbsb3233 and SD_Solar as the elders as I only heard about paper tape and punch cards in history books and museums. I could toss a few hundred more stepping stones on the list, but I'll just mention Z-80, 6502, 6809E as some assembly languages I taught myself in grade and High School before the IBM PC and the 8086 was even a thing.

do we need a separate thread for computer speak so that we can keep the chat here on the discount that ford are offering and everyone can go back to arguing over why the discounts are good and bad? ?
