Wireless Accessory Charger Inoperative/Poor Performance - Built On Or After 30-Sep-2021

Issue: Some 2021-2022 Mustang Mach-E vehicles built on or after 30-Sep-2021 may exhibit the wireless charger inoperative or poor performance when using an some Apple™ iPhone 12 and 13 models that use MagSafe wireless charging. This may be due to limited compatibility with the wireless accessory charging module (WACM). To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to update the WACM.

NOTE: The WACM software is designed to improve the compatibility between Apple™ iPhone 12 and 13 models that use MagSafe wireless charging and the Ford Qi wireless charging module.

Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to repair vehicles that meet all of the following criteria:

• 2021-2022 Mustang Mach-E

• Built on or after 30-Sep-2021

• Wireless accessory charger inoperative or poor performance with Apple™ iPhone 12 and 13 models

Interesting - I wonder if this is why the wireless charger is pretty much just an iPhone heater for me... I'll see if I can get this done when I take my GT in to get the front air dam replaced (it was delivered scratched up AF). Thanks!

Thank heavens! My Premium built in May had no issues with my iPhone 13 Pro. My GTPE, built in November, constantly disconnects. I frequently leave the car with less charge than getting in. Can’t wait to do this one via FDRS.

I assume the verify part number is just to make sure it’s one built in the timeframe noted?

Is this why my phone is on fire and always stops charging? Sure hope this is it!

Edit: Hmm...I called and the only thing they could see was a BlueCruise map update.

Man, my select was built in June 21 and does the exact same thing. Both with an iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max.

My MME premium build 1 has this issue, iphone 13 pro never stays connected, requiring me to constantly fiddle with phone to get it to reconnect for a couple minutes. Also get the hot phone if sitting in charging bay especially when using Apple Maps For navigation.

So I'm not showing an update for this in FDRS, under "SW Updates." Would this one be where you manually search for WACM? When I do that, I get 3 options. PMI, Configuration and Programmable Parameters, I'm guessing it is PMI (programmable module installation)? Even the TSB isn't clear on this.

This means your car probably doesn't have the hardware version that has the issue. Older hardware doesn't have an update.

Weird, my build date is 11/28, totally thought I'd be in the window.
That date might be when that revision was entered into their system, but may not have been a hard cutover of stock. That may have just been the first day that it was possible to get one of the updated parts in the car.

My GT built in Sept has the part number M1PT-19J235-AA while the affected hardware is M1PT-19J235-BA

How do I check the part number in FDRS? Or do I need FORScan?

The screen after you select a VIN has all the modules listed, their hardware part number and current software level.

Hot phone is normal with inductive charging. Especially if you’re running intensive apps.
