I hope you're right! @hybrid2bev any thoughts on this? Thanks!
Application of incentives is not in my wheelhouse. But I would think not. Incentives are protected from the original order date or delivery date but only for the person that placed the order, not the date of, or person who entered into the purchase agreement.

A purchase agreement alone just means the dealer agrees to sell me the car for an agreed upon price, it's not an order for new unit from the factory. Only doing a purchase agreement to me is simply not the same as a factory order, it's no different than walking in off the street and buying something off the lot, which does not protect incentives from when the car was ordered by the dealer or someone else.

so does that mean only a factory order gives you that ability to choose between what finance plans are available at time of agreement to purchase or at time of delivery?

you could be right but doesn’t seem to make sense to me. If the dealer knows it has a car coming in, in 2 months and I decide to buy it, I would think I get to choose since my decision to buy might have been based on the financing available to me at the time I signed something.

I know not everything is supposed to make sense but still. let’s hope Ford has flexibility here.

Yes the original customer who placed the order can chose incentives at the time of order or delivery.

Maybe. Like I said this is not my area of expertise, best to work that out with your dealer.

I see there is a method for incentive protection customer registration for in-transit "stock" orders. I don't know if a cancelled customer order qualifies as a 'stock' order though, because the original customer name is attached to that order.

Once the vehicle is grounded at the dealer as 'in-stock' it's no longer eligible for incentive protection.

Thanks for your perspective! I will see what the dealer is willing to do.

I’m active mil stationed in MD. Maintain FL for my registration and residency.
Dealer is suing I cannot do Ford Options with them and register in FL. Not really giving a reason.

other than the incentive what would be there reason for not being able to do one state or another.

IMO There's no reason, pretty sure Ford Options is available in both those states and they could take advantage of it. I bought my Mach-E in Ohio with Ford Options and live in Michigan. Also pretty sure it's just that each Dealership can choose to do what they want to seek profits. There's a chance you could change their mind if it is simply they are not familiar with it with "Hey, I just found out Ford Options is now available for out of state purchases...glad we can use it...here's how it works when you use the Ford Credit system..."

Question about the title??

My dealer says: Yes the registration will be under your name and Ford would be the lein holder. When it is paid off you will receive the title in your name

Differences:
Ford Options is a retail contract, so the title is in the customer name. For standard leases the title is in the lease company name. Because Ford Options are retail contracts instead of leases there may be differences in how the transactions are taxed depending on where you live (in the monthly payments vs. all upfront at time of sale) so consult your dealer.

The title will be issued in your name with Ford Credit as the lien holder. But Ford Credit will hold possession of the title until the loan is paid off.

That's true in title holding states. But in non-title holding states like here in MI I (the customer) actually hold the physical title document, but it has a lien on it. When the loan is paid off Ford Credit will send a document that releases the lien. Having the title and the lien release will allow you to transfer ownership in the future without issue.

Interesting. I didn't realize it varied by state.

Yep, confirmed, that's what I found out last week. I saw the State of Michigan webpage talked about sending the title to the lienholder. I asked Ford Credit and they confirmed "yep we have your title and we hold the title until you pay off the car". Previously my lien holder (a credit union) had sent along car titles to me for safe keeping and eventually just provided a final letter confirming pay off. So this was new to me.

Wait, what did Hybrid2bev say. @hybrid2bev Dude you are in Michigan and you have the physical title in your possession? Now I'm interested.

Thanks.

pushed them harder….
“Our computer system has us enter ford options as a lease”
it’s not a lease…
“But our website we go to enters it as a lease”

we’ll see what happens tomorrow.
