The dealership used my TrendNet adapter and amazonbasics cables. They were apparently doing things wrong the first 3 attempts.
My MME was in the shop last week and they claimed they ran the TSB 22-2150 and all the updates but I don't think so
can you tell what’s going on with my car? I dropped it for the blue cruise install and they have it since 3 weeks.
My car has been at the dealer for 12 days now to get the fix for the 1.7 issues, the update wasn’t going through and ford is not letting them change the APIM
Oh yeah, this is the same sort of nonsense that started me down the road of doing all my own updates ending with my enabling Bluecruise. I plan on doing all my own updates *from now on* as a result of this whole experience.
I had a service booked for today. They called to cancel it. I spoke to the technician and he said there isn’t any software for me to update on etis. I told him about the fix with the service number and he said it’s not on his system. So don’t come in. IDOITS!!
Today's update was not good. Apparently, there is a firewall at the dealership that is preventing the update from coming through. Ford Corp told the dealership they needed to remove the firewall temporarily but the dealership is not willing to do that.
Same issue as Mac n Cheese. Being towed as STOP Safely now is on. Thankfully I've been able to push it out of my garage for the tow truck when it arrives. So nice how I get lots of new experiences with this vehicle.

Does anyone else find the sadness in this thread. OTA was promised well over a year ago, and we have over 1,500 messages in this thread alone. I know we are MME fanboys, but do you ever step back to appreciate how bad this is. All these posts are from this week alone! Sorry for the rant.

My quote is out of context here -- mine's a happy one. I am fully fixed and up to date, I was commenting on how they messed up at first.

it’s very sad tbh.
They really need to push those EV shop or mobile EV techs kinda like they to for EA chargers to come update cars and give proper service.

it seems to be an industry problem tbh because I haven’t heard great things about how Tesla is handling their maintenance as well.
Investing into customer retention after the initial purchase costs money and it looks like raw market penetration is their only interest at the moment.

Ford just needs dedicated EV shops, these techs at regular dealerships aren’t willing to learn

Your dealer did the module update repair, and nothing else.

on 3/15 they did the 21P22 charging curve updates, but not all the updates from that program.

They attempted it a few times, but finally got a success on 4/20

After this, they did nothing more to the car, and ignored the message to update the APIM and TCU.

This is why I'm on here trying to help people out. Really hoping after next week things start to really turn around. But we'll see.

Yes very sad indeed! Not sure how to change things with current dealer model.

There is no dealer incentives to push/Service Ford EV’s. Service on ICE vehicle has always been bad in terms of honest/upfront communication, clarity of time lines, accurate diagnosis and root causing problems. The only difference is there’s usually 1-2 techs at each shop who have decades of experience and once they got involved the problems get solved.

With EV there isn’t a tech at most dealerships who has years of experience with EV’s. Ford may be providing the training but there is no incentive for the dealerships to spend time training the techs because the EV’s aren’t going to be as profitable for them.

We need independent Ford EV update people. At least 1 member here has already updated their MME and F-150. There were a few references in this thread for members helping others (maybe the same person.) Seems like that’s our best bet for now. @Ford Motor Company can you create a program for those of us who are inclined todownload the FDRS software and license(s) for my vehicle so I can try this out myself. Once I figure it out I can help other people update their cars.

This...and I believe they need to be company owned so time is not deterrent to working on their EVs. Again, this is a Tesla model so not sure if it would meet every customer's needs.

What Ford needs to do is create a technician bonus program for fast single visit EV repairs. Have some set bonus thresholds the parent company would pay out to the tech's (per the tech's FDRS login used). Repeat hits to the same VIN from the same tech in a short time resets the leveling of the bonus. Maybe some other enhancements per Fords knowledge into matters.

With this kind of program they are incentivized to learn and maintain the vehicles even if their franchise is not. Currently tech's really don't get much to work on complex problems like this and likely would prefer other repairs over the EV work.

@benk016 Can you check mine also? I would very much appreciate it. I sent you a DM. If you find anything interesting you can share it here to help the collective in OTA jail.

Thanks!
