Mechanical buttons/knobs are safer. You do not need to visually locate them in order to operate them. There needs to be a happy medium where operations that are commonly performed while driving are physical and things that are done while stationary are virtual. ?‍♂??

I love how this community doesn’t go into auto bash every other EV that is announced like ….ahem…some EV inter web communities do. People here can appreciate their MMe’s but still be excited and objective for other EV’s headed to the market.
Agreed. And it's curious how the dash on the Caddie looks very similar to that of the BMW i4.

I like the Lyriq better, less square, more info directly behind wheel, etc. How different do you expect? plus I think it had different display modes.

Yeah, you can configure both displays (behind the wheel and to the right) on the i4.

currently car-less, but hope to get a MME!

Not fond of the blind spots caused by the solid sidewalls after the C-pillar. Hopefully it has a blindspot camera system like on Kia/Hyundai/Genesis vehicles?

I absolutely prefer buttons to a purely touchscreen setup because it's much safer (as someone noted above) and can be operated through tactile memory. Unless we're at Level 3+ self driving, I shouldn't have to take my eyes off the road to operate the HVAC controls on the touchscreen.

So much slower to say the phrase and then wait than it is to just reach over and move a lever or push a button. There is something to be said for the KISS principle. ?

Physical buttons and dials are great for simple atomic actions.

Voice is great for complicated multi-step actions like picking a navigation point or entering a specific satellite radio channel or triggering a phone call.

The problem is most cars have sh*tty voice control systems and overly deep/complex built-in UIs. Hence... everyone's obsession with CarPlay to replace the crappy built in systems.

I ordered a Lyriq the 18th. I really like the dash and hopefully the tech won’t be delayed infinitely.

To be honest, I think there is a shot I get my AWD Lyriq sooner than the Mme I ordered in January 2022 because I got in so early.

If the tax credit is still available and my Mme gets in first, I’ll buy the Ford and hold on to my Caddie order to see how it progresses and how the reviews are.

If the tax credit is gone on the Ford when my order is fulfilled (and assuming the Caddie has decent reviews), I’ll probably skip the Mme and wait for the Cadillac.

I also ordered a Lyriq on the 18 th , I really like the interior too... I ordered my MME Premium Edition AWD and ER w/ Ice white appearance package.. back in November and you're correct in saying we may see the lyric before we see the Mach e's .. My Ford dealership sales manager said the issue is the all wheel drive and the extended range battery... they have the window and the roof issues fixed now..... The Cadillac dealership said I could have the Lyriq before Thanksgiving.. I told him I didn't expect to see it until March... Time will tell ,

I find all the new ev options coming exciting. I've been running around my Dad for chemo this week after road tripping over from Huntsville AL to Milton GA. MME has been great as usual, warm temp range is welcome improvement, the 80% fast charge limit sucks. The Caddy I liked, but it just won't turn heads like a MME, because average drivers won't know. The smartest thing ford did was make it a mustang, that gets more attention then anything. I do have a Silverado reservation, and hope to convert to a Work Truck trim when orders open. I have my doubts about pricing given the crazy seems to not be getting better.

Is anyone else considering the Lyriq? I think it has a number of advantages over the MME. Better interior, more advanced SuperCruise, touchscreen interface still has buttons (the lack of buttons on the MME touchscreen drives me crazy).

Pricing and range are similar to the MME, although reliability is still a question mark as it's a first year car. Also no frunk and questionable rear styling (this is subjective).
Similar price? Nope. Around 20% higher than a MME at the base price level. And anyone who thinks they will be buying a Cadillac at base price has never bought a Cadillac. The MSRP of a Cadillac, like any luxury level auto, goes up like crazy as options are added.

The price for AWD is fairly reasonable compared to RWD, and the suspension is more comparable to the GT Performance edition. Comparing AWD on both to GT PE, and ignoring the tax rebate (which will be going away soon), the prices are not so different.
Lyriq AWD: $64,990
Mach E GT PE: $66,000

The Lyriq doesn't have the lower level trims (no equivalent standard range battery), but when you compare similarly equipped models the price is competitive.

And no shot at a $7500 Federal Tax Credit.
You definitely will lose on net cost.
Only if you have over $7,500 in taxes to pay. I don't pay any Federal taxes.

Isn’t Lyriq only launching with two color options? Black or grey?

Also if markup does come into play Cadillac is supposed to be the biggest offender according to recent articles.
Metallic blue and white are options that cost more.
