I have a ChargePoint Home Flex installed in my garage on a 50A breaker for 40A charging. My GT arrived this weekend and on my first charge from about 40% to 100% it charged at a rate of 9.3 kW until tapering off, as shown in the graph in the chargepoint app.

Next, I configured a charging location for home in the FordPass app and set the max charge level to 90%. On all subsequent charges, it's charging at a rate of 3.8 kW and I don't see any incorrect settings in the ChargePoint app or FordPass.

Has this happened to anyone else? I could delete the home location in the app to see if it reverts to faster charging. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Give it an hour, sometimes it will be using less power to heat or cool the battery first before charging it. If it continues, then I'd suspect a problem. Are any of the connectors or plugs getting more than a little bit warm?

Thanks for the reply. It charged for 11 hours at 3.7 kW on May 21, and then 5.5 hours at 3.7 kW today. I'm suspecting the charger has decided to operate at 16A rather than 40A. I'm going to debug with a Chargepoint tech tomorrow. I haven't noticed anything warm but will check.

Watching this thread . . . I just had an electrician install this same ChargePoint charger in my garage, also on a 50 amp circuit for 40 amp charging, waiting for my MME to be delivered in the next 3 weeks or so. ChargePoint Home Flex is a highly reviewed charger, I hope there won't be problems with the new MME!

You likely need to reboot the charger, connect the app via Bluetooth and fix the settings. First you set it to plugged in, then set the breaker size to 50. That sets the current limit to 40 on the Chargepoint.

I think this is a ChargePoint config issue for you.

I have the same setup (MME charging with a Home Flex on a 50amp breaker) and I'm getting 9.4 kw delivered to the car when it is charging based upon a schedule and charge level limit I set in the vehicle.

EDIT: Then again, OP seems to say that the first time they plugged in they got 9.3.kw, so I'm not sure what is going on. But my MME always seems to ramp up to 9.4kw, never any lower.

Installed my charge point a few weeks back - consistent 11.25kw charging.
For sure set it up again - seems best course of action!!

How much amps in your setup? 40 or 48? I have a Wallbox at 40A and currently get 9.6KW max.

I am so glad I read this. Really never looked into it but always thought I was charging a bit slow. My ChargePoint is also operating 3.73 kW on a 50 Amp breaker. Need to look at the program tomorrow!

@micah77 & @AKgrampy, as others have suggested, it sounds like somehow your ClargePoint Flex got reset to 16A charging. Try reset the charger and set up as a 50A breaker. Hopefully that solves the issue. (FWIW, I have my a ClargePoint Flex on a 60A breaker and reliably get 11.25kW charging up to 90% SoC.)

Already done and operating correctly! I never was in a rush so just did not check the charging speed. I think I would have figured it out eventually if I ever had a really low battery and then wondered why it was taking so long to charge. Thanks for the advice!

I'm glad to hear it worked! I hope the settings stick....(on yours and on mine!)
