Have all of the failures been using 240v? We bought an EV6 which I'm using on the L2 charger as it is driven more and the MME on a 120v outlet so I'm hoping that setup will work for a while.

Fill up with water? Have you installed an irrigation box before?

That other guy sounds like my wife...

Of course there's no water in the box...

Of course it has a lock.

Of course it has a GFCI.

Of course I could get into trouble..

It went all through the wet/cold winter no problem.

I think it's rated up to 32amp. Why couldn't you go less?
I’m not an electrician, but everything I’ve read says you HAVE to have it wired to a 40 amp breaker. It’s not “up to 32 amps,” it’s “32 amps.”

The Ford charger doesn’t have options to lower the amperage.

Side note- I have installed an irrigation box before, it was always damp inside. The Ford charger is water resistant, not water proof.

LOL Amber light came on tonight for the first time I've seen it. 1 month a few days two-three times a week charging. Left in plug.

Glady GrizzlE will be arriving Friday. Environment in garage is cool.

Going to stop and unplug.

Ford Mustang Mach-E FORD MOBILE CHARGER IS NOT MEANT FOR DAILY USE!!! PXL_20220613_055344449~2

Will plug in an hour.

I don't think the plug is meant to be in the socket daily. The charger is still on when it's plugged in.

After every charge pull the plug out to give charger to cool down.

The Ford Mobile Connector is rated for 32 amps, not "up to" 32 amps. There is no way to adjust it's output. There is also no way to change L2 charging speed on the Mach E, it charges at whatever the EVSE tells it to charge at. That means you need at least a 40 amp dedicated circuit when using the Ford Mobile Connector. You are playing with literal fire here and I can only hope the safety systems in the EVSE and the car are smart enough to save you from a very expensive lesson. I also hope that no one here sees your post and thinks its a good idea to cut corners and emulate your setup.

I have irrigation boxes and yes they do fill up with water if it rains heavily. This is a really bad idea that could kill someone. But at least you supplied your name in your posts for the evidence trail.

Really bad idea.

I was wondering about this as well...If I don't charge daily, should I keep the charger plugged in or unpluged? Probably won't affect it either way I'm guessing (that'd be a pretty bad flaw).

Mostly charge over the weekends.

Will it damage the charger if you leave it plugged in and turn off the power at the breaker?

It is safe to leave it plugged in all the time, except maybe from lightning strikes.

Unplugging the vehicle from the charger will help the charger cool down. Unplugging from the wall won't make any reasonable difference. But, it is very important for safety reasons (arcing, shock risks) to unplug from a vehicle prior to unplugging from the wall.

Will it damage the charger if you leave it plugged in and turn off the power at the breaker?
Breakers aren't intended to be used as regular on/off switches. You will prematurely wear out the breaker.

It's fine to leave the mobile EVSE plugged in to the wall outlet.

I have that Grizzl-E, it has dip switches that let you select 16, 24, 32 or 48 amps. I have mine set to 24 and it takes about 3.5 hrs to charge from 55 to 90%.
Hi Jason. I ordered the Grizzl E and had planned on setting it at 32 to reduce the heat generated by charging. Can I ask you why you selected 24? Thanks, John

I selected 24 because the largest circuit I could use was 30A.

From my experience, I'd recommend unplugging the Ford Mobile Charger when but in use.

No, it shouldn't cause any damage to the Ford Mobile Charger, but it might wear out your breaker.

Why?

From my experience 240v plugs don’t like being repeatedly plugged in and unplugged.

And we have seen the damage caused by a worn out plug already on this forum. =fire hazard.

Just my personal experience
Ford Mustang Mach-E FORD MOBILE CHARGER IS NOT MEANT FOR DAILY USE!!! PXL_20220218_061043674.MP

This happened when not in use but plugged in. Probably just a fluke, but it definitely impacted my opinion as I had the luxury of standing a couple feet in front of it when this happened.
