License Plate Wrap - Anyone have experience?

License plate wrap installed today.
Like the stamped plates from the DMV, the vinyl plate has letters/numbers that are slightly raised.

Installation was very straight forward once I determined where the center of the car was, and how high/low I wanted to mount the plate.

Is the sticker retroreflective like real plates and road signs? (It reflects back a lot of the light if you shine a flashlight on it or take a photo with flash)

One of the main reasons states require front plates is so law enforcement can bounce a laser off it and get your speed more easily with a laser gun. They also require it so plate readers and red light cameras work.

Yes. The license plate wrap was tested to be of similar reflectivity as a standard license plate.

My detailer installed my front license plate wrap this weekend while doing a ceramic coat of the entire car. He also installed the HOV stickers in the proper location. The front plate wrap seems to work well.

I've got on on our MY and plan to get one for the MME when it comes (after I get a custom plate #).

You can get a motorcycle sized vinyl plate from these guys: Adhesive Replica - Custom License Plates and more. It fits the smaller space perfectly. My dealer drilled the bracket holes and now I am trying to get them filled so I can use this solution. I'm in California and you can even order a license "decal" when you are ordering special interest plates.

I just don't like how it goes over the bend IMO. If it was flat ok we can see.

Curious if anyone has had experience with License Plate Wrap, specifically has anyone put it on their Mach-E? I just put in the order for mine yesterday. We probably won't have issues like on some Teslas where if the vinyl sticker was not applied at exactly the same location as the license plate bracket, one of the forward sensors hidden inside the bumper would be blocked?

I was the originator of that thread. I had no sensor blockage. I don't have the sensor 360 option. See my photos on the thread for where I placed it. It's a thin vinyl decal...if a signal can make it through the bumper, it's not going to be affected by the decal.

I also would love to see a pic of it installed. Since I don’t have an MME yet, I wasn’t able to measure the available space, but I assumed there wasn’t enough vertical space to not intrude either into the faux grille or the lower grille area.

Correct, not legal for the back. There IS a digital license plate that's available for the back (not for the front) from a company named Reviver, but that seems much more of a gimmick to me than anything.

And costs about $1,000...who needs it? The front decal is $85+shipping.

Plate looks good because it blends with the black and yellow. But it's not the standard elevation/height of us/ca plates.

Me, I just done want to get pulled over if it's for a simple "oh that right a wrap is now legal in CA" nuff said.

Just me or are some of you all just going without the front license plate (or wrap)?

I had another vehicle without the front plate and never got pulled over (knock on wood so I'll probably get pulled over now), but find for this car, nothing really looks good there.

Can we just stick it on our front dash passenger side when we park or drive? Does anyone know what the law actually says?

I reread this thread and saw the post about the police laser and red light cams, tolls...I rarely use tolls/drive in areas with red light cams...Fingers crossed no issue. Maybe car manufacturers should make some which pop out electronically when you drive/park.

Edit: Did search and saw something called Show-N-Go, but not sure if compatible. Would prefer to not do some aftermarket stuff in case it blocks/breaks other things.

unfortunately the dealership attached the front bracket despite me insisting otherwise for 6 months. still worth the trouble of removing it and replacing with the sticker? I have to plug the holes first and then get ppf done. anybody know the cost of the vinyl plate?
