I have 6K miles on my GT-PE. My tires are about 60% tread depth left. @scoopman had to get new tires on his GT-PE at around 5K IIRC. The only tires I have ever worn faster than the summer tires on my MME were the S compound Gatorbacks I ran on my Trans Am. I still have the regular compound Gatorbacks on the car. Those were my commute tires. ??

I have a Mach E Premium RWD with Michelin Primacy A/S 225/55/19 103H stock tires and am at 22k miles. I just checked tire threads and am at roughly 5-6/32.

Anyone have similar experiences? It would seem these tires which are warrantied for 45k miles may not even make it past 30k-35k.

I only started looking in because there is a small sidewall chip on one tire and was trying to figure out if I should wait it until all the tires need replacement.
That's right where I'm at (except I have a 4x FE). Roughly 7/32 (5-6mm) at 22k miles. Seems reasonable for all the extra weight of an EV and these fairly skinny tires. I didn't expect them to last quite as long as they would on an ICE vehicle.

When Lane Centering is working well, it's pretty easy on the tires. When it is constantly correcting itself then the tires get scrubbed down more than necessary. Same basic thing when it doesn't steer to the apex of the corner. That just scrubs off speed and wastes energy.
I wonder how much that's offset by failing to avoid the pot holes and ruts though? That's one of many things I don't like about LC/BC -- it just bounces back and forth within the lane with no regard to avoiding the ruts.

I hadn't realized how much of my driving is dominated by avoiding road imperfections, until I actually thought about it and compared it to LC. I'm constantly looking just ahead for those bumps/ruts and making tiny adjustments within the lane.

Needed new tires after 5k miles!?!? Only had my car 10 days & I think I better start shopping for sales on new tires! lol
(my 4th ev, so I know they chew through tires! but I kinda don't want to know how much GTPE tires are gonna cost. . .)

At your rate, you will easily run well past 50k miles before you need to replace them. These have maybe a touch over 9/32" when new. I was down to 7/32" at 19k miles. I now have 44k miles and just slightly under 5/32" left still. I already purchased another set and will get them installed between 3/32"-4/32".

Really very good tire wear for an EV. ?

This is where the Premium tires start according to Michelin. Not sure what tire the Selects come with.

I believe you measure from the top of a wear indicator strip!? Bill P

Cool. With some snow/ice here in the winter, I usually don't wait too long on new tires. Good tread depth makes a huge difference for winter driving. If I can get 35k on these I'll be quite happy. I usually milk them thru a summer and replace them before winter. Probably either Fall 2023, or Fall 2024 if I get lucky.

7200 miles and this is what the rear tires look like. Just had them rotated and now they are on the front. Trying to make a warranty claim

mine look almost exactly like this.... but I've got 15k miles on. Probably going to stretch'em out to the end of the summer, and get fresh tires in the fall. I'd guess 20k miles will be all I can get safely.

Here's what my FE (AWD) tires look like at 17k. About 7/32" of tread left.

wow, you must have great roads and mostly highway travel ?

I have a big mix of crappy old asphalt in town and mountains, dirt/gravel, and mostly stop and go around town. I do drive in a 'spirited manner' with fairly aggressive acceleration as the norm, and hard cornering/accel/decel in the mountains for sure, but do not track the car. I would say only about 10% of my miles are easy highway at steady speed. I am at 15k now, and would estimate I'll stretch to 20k before I have to get new tires.

I too noticed that @scoopman had changed his tires already at 5K and i got my GTPE less then a week after him and my tires at 6.6K are also at about 60% wear like yours. He must be driving it very weirdly and i wonder if it is related to his repeated contactor failure? Well, it should not. After all car has performance in its name.

About the same on mine at 22k miles, although mine aren't as clean as yours. ?

Mostly highway driving though. Probably 80%.

Yeah,

Most miles are suburban and freeway in LA / Ventura county. Roads are pretty good. Although I do like to be "first off the line" and like that I have the car to do it.

That is exactly what will wear the tires out the fastest. EV cars have a lot of torque to the road. Not like ICE. And the MME feels so good in the corners that we all tend to overdrive them.

Not speaking for him or anything, but Scoop told me that he used to have a lot of stop light fun. I used to occasionally beat on mine, but don’t really any more. When my last dog got the cancer, I pretty much just carted him around everywhere. Since getting the new dog, he goes everywhere with me. I don’t want to throw the dog arond in the car, so I am just using the ACC to accelerate, Unbridled to decel, and the brakes really lightly to stop. Most Grandmas drive crazier than I do these days. ??
