Not that I'm victim blaming here (though it's TOTALLY going to sound like it, I know), but being born and raised in Virginia where our top speed limit is 70 (and even those are far and few between) and 80 is an automatic reckless driving ticket, what was the speed limit there where you were already doing 83 and then punched it to pass someone who was going too slow?! :)
Sure, let's do 70 on freeways. That's adorable!

In California, and in most states, you are allowed to go well over the speed limit to overtake another vehicle as long as it's safe to do so. Also, in California it's rare to get pulled over unless you're 15-20 over the limit sustained while on the freeways. 83 was my passing speed, not my cruising. Watch the video. Going 70 on I-5 in the fast lane would be a death sentence.

I knew this comment was coming. My speed has nothing to do with the car not performing as it was marketed/manufactured to perform. Before I purchased a GTPE I watched videos of it on race tracks.

Please move to the right lane and stay there ?

I honestly think that, in time, all GTs will have failure.
All GTs? I'm curious whether the GTPE is more likely to experience the contactor failure?

And what about 2022 GTs? My GTPE was built on 6/30/22, well after the recall went into effect. I'm hoping I have the new, more robust HVBJB hardware and thus will be immune from contactor failure. Has anyone with a recent build experienced a HVBJB failure?

I just drove my GTPE across six Western states in 100-degree plus weather, climbing real mountain passes at over 7,000 ft, crossed the Rockies and the Sierra Nevada, and had no problems. Perhaps I have the new contactors after all!

I dunno. My GT is a city car - 50 miles a day or less, on flat highways and local streets. There is the occasional "wide open pedal" event.

Could fail tomorrow. Could be fine for 20 years. I'm still avoiding the recall software, for now.

I've just created a new thread on just this topic.

Thanks for sharing Todd. You’ve been a wealth on information and assistance since I got my first MME. I hope that maybe with the data you logged Ford can do better for all of us.

This should piss off each and every one of us. Ford clearly has a problem that they either under-engineered a critical part or the accountants made the wrong choice and it's going to cost them and us substantial time, money and frustration.

I think we should all go and stress test our cars this week. Maybe hundreds of these failing and making the news will get a "Chevy Bolt" type of media coverage and shaming of Ford. My guess after watching the Weber state videos is that the whole battery system is not fit for use on the GT and GT PEs.

I wish that were true here in Arizona (80 mph an automatic reckless driving ticket). I see so many people buzzing around the freeways at 80-90 mph as if they own the roads. I also see so many bodies lined up on the side of the road when driving past accident scenes.

Makes me sad because people don't realize how deadly it is to drive so aggressively.

I bet you can get a failure with some spirited driving on 580, no DCFC probably required. It's not Tejon Pass, but it has some hills.

Just play some Blippi.

And be sure to eat a Bacon Gouda at the same time.
I drive the 580 (Altamont pass) almost daily. It’s not right to worry about daily commutes on a new car.

I passed "grapevine" twice last month. I had to charge at Bakersfield and Santa Clarita EA stations. I kept my GT at 70-75mph all the time and I was super nervous. likely, no warning lights, but more post I see the more I think that I may upgrade to 2023 or later build or switch to MY or Fisker Ocean. I sold my '22 GT in favor of Ioniq 5 since I would like to see if faster charging would really save me time on SF-LA trips. still have my '21 MME GT. I love '21 MME, but I cannot risk my family every time we decided to go on MME for long trip. :(

Holy bummer! Sorry that happened Todd. I was kind of pooping bricks driving up the mountains into Oregon. I guess Tejon Pass is worse. 2/3 of the GT-PEs in this photo have lost their HVBJBs to the Tejon Pass. I guess only because the blue one hasn’t been there yet. ???

Blueberries are fairly aerodynamic so you might be okay.
