My car was waiting 2 days for the HVBJB to arrive from Sacramento and hopefully they received it yesterday. I told them they can save on giving me a loaner if they rush the repair work.

Nice. I have a feeling that my repair is going to take a bit longer than most.

All these little hints make me really want to know the details of what you aren't telling us....yet!
I wonder who the "other" Sawyer is... I guess we'll keep wondering.

You are getting the scooby snacks aren't you? LOL. Couldn't be happier if this is true.

Hopefully your tow truck driver didn't go to school here:

That is the school where we hire our techs from. (Love that cartoon. One of my favorites....)

Maybe when you get it back the engineers are going to hand you the keys and say "I dare you to break this one". :) That would be cool.

I had something like that happen when I broke the 4R100 trans in my Super Duty. The transmission shop installed upgraded parts and literally dared me to break it again. Even gave me a lifetime warranty. That was about 300k miles ago....thing still pulls like an ox.

If this car leaves me stranded 3 times for the same issue I am lemon lawing it.
Based on what I have seen posted in this forum, and my own personal experience, that is very unlikely to happen.

Haha! When I got my first car (1994 Miata) I joined a Miata forum and my sister was on the forum already and her username was "Sawyer" I now use "theothersawyer" as my username for everything because it is always available!

Edit: I shared my secret! Now it's your turn! ?

New. Read through the following thread. Todd spent a lot of time puling all the information together you need to understand the issue:
https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...ers-biggest-fear-facts-and-info-thread.18143/
So does anyone know if Ford is planning to replace the original HVBJB with the "new improved version" even if it hasn't failed yet, or are they only going to replace them when they fail? If the latter, that would suck because I feel very uncomfortable taking a long trip in it, and that was one of the reasons I purchased this car.

Welcome to my world! This is what so many are upset about and why a lot of us think Ford should replace the contactors with the newer ones that can handle the electrical loads put on them. I feel just like you do as far as taking a long trip.

What dash camera are you using? It's awesome that you can remotely access it but wouldn't this kill the 12v pretty quickly?

It wouldn't be fair to Ford and the team helping me to say yet because there's too many unknowns. As soon as I know more and have some level of confirmation I'll say what's going on. I promise.

It's a Blackvue LTE model. The LVB doesn't drain quickly. If I don't drive it or charge it, it'll take about 3 days before the DC/DC gets engaged. You don't have to worry about draining the battery because the HVB will top it off. You'll get a message saying there's drain, but you know what the drain is, so that's actually a good message meaning the car is working as it's supposed to.
