I went 130 miles away and i was charging my car when message popped up with turtle and saying the car is with limited performance due to hot battery. Can somebody help me with advice cause i got this car two days ago and cannot go home. The car cannot pass 20 miles per hour.
Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

Look through all your openings and make sure none of the plastic film from shipping is still on the car blocking any air flow. Don't recall if it was this forum or another but someone was having overheating issues and there was some white plastic film left / stuck behind on of his cooling shutters.

Thank you guys for all comments. Today was stressful day. I finally arrived home after couple hour’s trying. If you experienced the same issue just turn off your car and go somewhere for an hour. I tried everything i parked the car and let it run for 30 min then for another 30 min with AC on full power. After that i went to dcfc to plug it in just hoping the fan will cool the battery. Nothing helped. At this point i was so pissed off i just turned the car off and went to Starbucks to get some drink. I stayed about 40 min there when i came back and turn the car on everything was ok.
That was my first time driving the car on a long drive and i dont feel confident to do it again. I didnt force the car or drive like mad. My Ac was on 74 most of the time, outside was 98. Also forgot to mention next day after i picked my car from the dealership Tire Pressure Sensor Fault message showed up and its still there. I am definitely going to the dealership on Monday but i am not sure if they will do something. I wish i had the software to read all the updates available.
Also want to share my car was build the week of 07/04/22 and delivered on 08/17
I love the car. I love the ride and everything but to get stuck in Tucson 130 miles away from home is not fun experience.
Let me know if you would like me to scan your car for you. You can send me a private message and we can talk.

It really sounds like your chiller might not be working correctly. There is a valve in the system that allows refrigerant to circulate through the chiller and that might be stuck. It will show in the codes though so if your dealer scans for codes they should see something.

I had somebody already run my vin and thats what he sent me
Yes, you have a battery cooling performance code since last Wednesday, so you should stop using DC fast charge and bring the car in for service right away. Basically the battery is not cooling properly so that needs to be fixed ASAP.

You have a TPMS general signal failure, which means the car can't communicate with 1 or more sensors. That could because of radio interference, or because of a bad sensor that died.

Last, you do have a DCFC charging station performance code. That could be caused by a few things, bad station, unplugging without pressing the stop button on the charge port first, etc. You have a July 8th build date so you may have the latest software, I'll have to double check with FDRS tomorrow.

I will definitely check that. All the openings on the front of the car correct? Because they told me the error code is from Wednesday when the dealer charged it for first time.

That's the firmware recall they just issued a few weeks ago. Take it to the dealership. 4 hour software update and you will be all good

after DCFC charging, especially on a hot day, you MAY need to give the battery time to cool down before you hit the road. This is best accomplished by leaving the car ON so the a/c can actively cool the battery.

If you really want to see the actual battery temp and the DC charger temp, you can get a ODB2 code reader and an App like CarScanner... but if you don't want to go to all that trouble, just count on giving the car 15-20 minutes, left ON, to cool off.

The front vents will probably be open, and the fan will be running hard to cool things off. One indicator your car is ready to go is the louvers may close, and the fan noise will reduce.

I live in Goodyear, and the Surprise and Avondale dealers, as well as Bell Ford, are clueless.
IF you find a knowledgeable dealer, please post.

Good luck.
I've had really good experiences with Chapman Ford in Scottsdale.

I dont think this helps in my case. The car was on and charging and then this came up on the screen and the battery was on 66%. You cannot charge nor drive. I left the car working without charging and the battery didn’t cool down. The only thing that helped was to leave the car off for an hour.

I had a call from the dealership today and they said the chiller doesn't work. Also my TPS in the rear left tire wasnt programmed correctly. They are ordering parts and i hope i wont wait forever.
Sorry you're out the car but at least it is good to know that there was a hardware problem and that we don't have to now be super paranoid about driving in the heat.

Agree. No reason to be concerned about driving in the warmer southern states. This failure is rather uncommon. A/C systems sometimes break down. Being a brand new car, I am going to suspect the chiller or valve has some sort of blockage because this issue was exposed very quickly once the OP took delivery.

I have had this same failure in my Focus Electric. Out of 3 FFEs in our family, the ONLY service needed for any of the vehicles is a chiller valve replacement. Once that was fixed, the car drove for 50,000 miles with no further issues of any kind.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Stuck in my Mach-E with "limited performance due to hot battery" error message issue PXL_20250808_010239487

Today's the first time I've seen the "Limited performance due to hot battery" message, and my first time seeing the turtle icon.

This was when I started the vehicle at the end of my work day, just after 6 pm, I think.

Outdoor temps probably reached 118° so the asphalt around my car was probably well over that. But that's normal here in this season. I think the unusual factors today were that I went out for lunch to a place about 12 miles away, partially via highways, and when I returned from lunch I forgot to put up the windshield shade, although I don't understand why it would make any difference for the battery.

I drove home via surface streets instead of highways to allow for better battery cooling. About 15-20 minutes into my drive, the turtle icon disappeared.

I didn't notice anything unusual in my drive whatsoever... Braking and acceleration seemed normal to me. I don't ever floor it, though.
