you mean a $90-100K+ Rivan? :)
Depends if one is a pre-order holder. We are, and we're still considering getting one next year. We currently have a preorder for the max pack which we no longer want, but are holding it that way so we can get a delayed 2023 delivery.

IMO, from a financial perspective, solar is a no-brainer (Depending on location/house alignment/etc). Solar + EV is a big winner as powering my car is now about 10% of what it was compared to my previous ICE.
Especially with the federal ITC now back up to 30%. Just made my new solar install I completed this year that much more valuable :D

At this point, I'm seriously thinking of just buying another ICE and converting the house over to Solar. I think the home solar is now more valuable.
If there is another EV you find interesting I would order it (assuming the deposit is refundable & you can lock in the price). I would not be surprised if this move by Ford kicks off a series of price hikes through out the industry! (or continues it)

You're only looking at select base price, but there are tech package features missing plus it's battery cost should have gone down as they're moving to LFP for the small pack. Other trims went up by almost $6k for getting nothing new and the parking assist removed, while the big battery pack is also another $2,600 for an other $8k increase on the premium trim. It is also not in line with the rest of the market, Tesla never was and other competitor prices like VW are going down.

Yep, was already looking at an EV6 but was undecided, I thought the tax credit being deleted from Korean cars made my decision to hold onto my Mach E order but the price is going up more than the tax credit was so if I don't get price protection I'm not taking delivery.
But the Koreans have Zero control over their dealer network. Hyundai and Kia markups make Ford markups look like child’s play.

Wonder how much of the 2023 increases are part of Ford's strategy to cut down on dealer markups. People are paying $5-20k over MSRP right now but if dealers tack on the same markups to the 2023 MSRP, there could be fewer takers. Who knows.

Ford spokesperson confirming Mach-E not eligible for $7,500 tax credit???

https://www.detroitnews.com/story/b...rice-order-bank-reopens-next-week/7894458001/
Yes this will be an issue unless Ford plans to bring battery assembly to North America for 2023 orders, which I think is unlikely.

The batteries are made by LG-Chem in South Korea. The new tax guideline requires:

  • $3,750 of the credit eligibility is based on battery manufacturing content. For 2023, EV batteries must have at least 40% of battery parts and materials sourced and made in a country the U.S. has “free trade” with. This percentage ratchets up 10% each year, reaching 100% by 2029.
  • $3,750 of the credit eligibility is based on the battery’s assembly location. It must be made in North America.

The cells are made in Poland. South Korea would be better because the US has a free trade agreement with them. But these requirements won't go into effect until the "Secretary Guidance" is released, which could be after 1/1/2023. For this reason, nobody can say for sure if the MME will qualify next year, not even Ford.

This was the point I was trying to make earlier but someone disagreed. There is a price limit that no one will pay for a Mach-E. And I think with this price hike, ford is getting pretty close to that limit. We’re already seeing people on this forum drop out of ordering a Mach-E.

There are dealers you can get MSRP at, just takes a little searching, cast a wider net than the closest ones to where you live. I've noticed no real difference between the amount of dealers that do and don't honor MSRP based on brand.

But in California, there’s literally 1 dealer that will sell at MSRP and they only sell to local residents. But good luck to those looking for a Hyundai/Kia at MSRP.

Did not know about Poland, thanks for the clarification.
