It seems like more and more dealerships have no idea what is going on. I would love it if what he told you about price protection also protects the features, but that seems like a load of BS.

No doubt you've seen this video before (may have been linked in this or another thread), but for those that haven't here is some information that seems to be legit: Changes to the 2023 FORD MUSTANG MACH-E
The problem is this video is ambiguous too. The key detail is the "special offer" from Ford - what it will entail and what our options are. Ford is being completely incompetent not sending this out.

So I went to the dealership in person and had an annoying experience. The employees were acting like they were doing me a favor. I told them that I was trying to buy a 50k car they aren't doing me charity!

They saw that there were actually two orders - a 23 and a 22. Both were selects. When I spoke with the manager he said he didn't know about the tech/comfort package change and that he will look into the order tomorrow. Meanwhile ordering has opened up and I lost my spot.
The 2 orders is consistent with what my dealership found. They are trying to figure out why.
Also, I wouldn’t worry too much about your spot in line. It’s abundantly clear that when you place the order is not nearly as important as what vehicle you are buying and when the factory is scheduling those particular cars.
I'm going to guess if you had a '22 Select order with Comfort package it will be recreated as a '23 Select without the Comfort package since that was dropped from the Select. The dealer is probably supposed to ask you if that's okay, and if not upgrade the '23 order to a Premium for you. You will likely have to pay for the increase to premium or live without the Comfort package so that will be a hard decision.

I know that sucks if you were one of these Select customers. And I wouldn't worry too much about the spot thing, it doesn't mean as much as you think. The trim, size of dealer, and state you're in make a much bigger difference on wait time. Ordering a Select from a big dealer in CA you might only wait 4 months, but if you order a 4X Premium in a non-ZEV state from a small dealer you might wait a year to get it.

They wanted to balance out '22 MY and calculate their finances before deciding how much money to give out for the private offers. Balance out only happened last week so they might need a few days. I feel like the pot is a fixed size and they are determining how many ways it has to be divided based on remaining unscheduled orders. Yes they should have sent it out by now, but I think it is expected to be announced by the end of this week.

So it looks like my dealer didn’t ask and just rolled me over to a 2023 Select. I didn’t realize this, but it looks like Colorado’s tax credit runs out at the end of this year. I was to get another $2500 back from my state.

Are we even sure that the '22s are done scheduling?

When I sign in to the Ford reservations page, I see my order was converted to a 2023. However, when I chat with Ford they see a 2022 and priority 01. Very confusing.

When I spoke to the manager of the dealership - I explained that the 2023 Select doesn't have the "tech package" as standard. I explained that there were many aspects of the tech and comfort package no longer available in the 2023 select. He told me that price protection protects features as well as price but couldn't go into what the resolution was.

It's always been like this. Car salespeople/managers do it as a JOB so they're forced to. A lot of us here are constantly refreshing our orders, arguing whether the MME is an SUV or a station wagon and practically are on here all day looking for any/all MME info.

There is no way any regular saleperson having to sell a Ford Focus and other Ford's is going to dedicate the time to learn everything about the various options. This is true for everything actually.

The TL:DR is ignore what comes out of dealers mouths and go with what's official posted and read everything here...it should be more accurate.

Just checked and on my reservations all my orders were changed to 2023 online.
For my select I see a line item charge for 2875 without it showing what it is

  • MUSTANG MACH-E SELECT
    $47,870.00
  • Configured Options
    $2,875.00

    • Primary Electric Motor
    • 100A
    • Space White Metallic
    • Ford Mobile Power Cord
    • ActiveX™ Seating Material Black Onyx
    • Single-Speed Transmission
    • Front License Plate Bracket
    • Configured Options
      $2,875.00
There was a T/C option but its now missing so what am I being charged for?

Still no email but I see on the Ford.com order page I’ve been converted to a 2023 Select with the same $2,875 configured options.

I already emailed my dealer last night asking to be upgraded to a Premium if they can do it without placing a new order.

I have the same thing. I just got off the phone with Ford and they didn't have any details. They told me to discuss this with my dealership. These are not comparable cars.
