That 360 camera thing seems a bit nuts. The first time someone backs over a pet and Ford had their 360 camera disabled one has to wonder how that lawsuit will go. "I bought the car it had 360, got laid off and could not afford the subscription now my cat is dead."

Whats next, side curtain airbags, $5 a month.
I know how it'll go. The person will spend thousands of dollars in legal fees and ford will award them $50 bucks for the cat.

Seriously? That seems……. Odd.

On the 21-22 if you didn’t check that box you didn’t get the hardware.

I guess they’re using the crack dealer approach? Give us a taste?

As odd as it is, it’s actually better. You get to try before you buy and if you don’t want it? It costs you $0 and you can always change your mind later.
Like Tesla, it also streamlines production. They can make them faster if they all have the same 360 camera.

Besides the options removal issues, many people were expecting to see the car they ordered early this year to get the full $7500 tax credit. So the cars need to be delivered sooner to secure that. Next year tax credits still are not clear how much it will be.
That’s fair.

But unfortunately (even though you didn’t know this at the time you ordered), the people this affects were far back enough in line that their cars weren’t going to be delivered in 2022 it seems anyways.

At the time they ordered, they should have known there was a chance they wouldn’t get delivery fast enough to get a full $7500 credit.

Still sucks if you’re one of those people who are above the income limit. But that’s the governments fault, Ford has no control over that.

Some of us need cars because leases are due etc. This isn't a realistic sales model to have someone take months to deliver a car then change the car. Why not just build all the 2022 models then switch to 2023.
Our BMW i4 was built and delivered in 3 months from Germany... and Ford can't deliver within North America within 7+ months, good luck with that sales model.
I don’t think your place in line changes (at least it shouldn’t).

But if that’s the case, wouldn’t you rather have a 2023 than 2022?

Apparently the i4 is less in demand.

The rush is that I don't have a car currently. My lease expired last week and I stupidly thought Ford would deliver with 1-2 months of slack time. I now have to live in Los Angeles without a car and take 1 and a half hour bus rides to work when it is only a 20 minute drive to the office.

I hope your gut is right. However I also think that it would have been easy for Ford to determine what they wanted to do two months ago. The orders have been frozen since April. This isn't rocket science. Ford must of had a good picture of things in June/July.

All I want is the car I paid for, for the price I paid for it, and to know that my place in line is respected. I'm not bitching about wanting it now. I just want clear information.
This does suck, it really does.

But what is the solution?

Ford is building and delivering the cars as fast as they can.

And unfortunately you’re in the back of a very long line. Everyone waiting in the same line as you is in the same situation.

Only real solution is to “skip the line” and pay a high ADM to get a car now. Or just wait in line with everyone else.

Both solutions suck, but what other solution is there? Door 3 is just get out of the line and stand in another long line from another manufacturer.

Rivian? 2 year wait
Cadillac? 2023 sold out
Blazer? 2023 sold out

That's exactly what I'm saying. I want to wait in line. I just want the price protection promised to me by the dealership and Ford. This is the problem - not the wait.

And that’s exactly what the “private offer” should give you: price protection.

But it’s likely more than just price protection since features changed.

When all settled you “should” get a 2023 with the same features (if avail) for the price of a 2022.

Sucks to wait, but not a terrible tradeoff.

The tax credit situation could mess things up, but again, that’s the governments fault not Fords.

IF that happens then I'm fine. But it seems like the dealership is trying to prevent me from "upgrading" my select with tech/comf package to a premium. They are instead telling me to cancel my order and reorder.

I just got off the phone with Galpin Ford and spoke with the new sales manager. The manager was trying to get me to cancel my select order and instead make a second new purchase for the premium. He told me that there was nothing he could do and the matter was entirely in Ford's hands.

I was told that I could not change the car since the select was "locked in". The only way to get the comfort package back was to cancel the select and reorder a premium. Why would I do this?

These dealerships are incredibly dishonest and are just trying to get customers to cancel their orders.
Damn, I'm still waiting for Galpin rep to answer my email requesting the upgrade to Premium.

If they won't allow that I have some tough decisions to make. If I have to place a new order it won't be with Galpin.

I wouldn’t listen to them. Wait to see what Ford says.

I think if you cancel/reorder you may get hosed.

Per what was posted earlier….. “don’t cancel.” Read the bold:

22MY to 23MY Model Year Change Over (“MYCO”) Retail Customer Orders
If a customer had a 22MY order that did not get scheduled, to preserve the order, Ford will automatically convert the order to a 23MY order in the closest possible specification on 99 priority code in WBDO. PLEASE DO NOT enter a new order. The converted order will be reflected in WBDO by COB on August 29th. Please contact your customers to discuss order details and take the existing order off of 99 priority code. Please also inform your customers that after they agree to convert their order, we will make every effort to prioritize the order. Note that due to product offering changes, it might not be possible for all 22MY orders to get converted to identical 23MY orders. To assist with identifying these customers, a list will be provided to your regional representative.

See what I posted again above. “Ford will automatically convert your order to the closest possible…..”

Completely disagree. This is all Ford. Ford controls the rollout and the information. We should be freaking out. This is a mess!
I agree. Ford should be communicating better. They have your $500 dollars. You deserve answers.

My dealer is calling me in the morning to tell me if I can switch to a Premium from my Select with Comfort/Tech Package (even with a Standard Range battery). I absolute require the power liftgate and memory seats and CoPilot 360 with BlueCruise. If none of this plays out the way it is suppose to, I am just going to take my $500 and walk and not deal with Ford ever again.

This is so maddening after months of waiting. My family will just make do with the vehicles we own until these supply problems end and we stop celebrating paying MSRP for a vehicle. Anybody remember when you got excited to pay $500 over invoice? My 2019 Nissan Leaf SL was purchased at invoice in February 2020 and delivered from Lake Havasu, Arizona to my home for FREE.
