It seems whenever my Android phone rests on the charger pad it goes bonkers. Turns the brightness on the phone down to dark and other strange things until I restart my phone.

Yeah the charge pad is a joke. It doesn't work for me at all either. There's multiple reports of people having issues with it. Some people claim it works, just poorly. Others, like me, have our phones turn into toasters. I have a Pixel 6 Pro, and if it can't work on a stock android phone by the company that develops android then what are we to do.

I ended up going with this:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09JV6W1TC?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

And to make it work on an Android you need this:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09MDX8TPB?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

With those two the phone is secure, easier to see and charges just wonderfully using the USB C port in the middle.

Other's have gone a simpler route and just put an aftermarket QI charger in the same spot, plugged it into the USB port and that works well. There's flat rectangular ones that will fit in there.

What kind of phone is it? Make and model might make a difference.

Ok. Good to know. Thanks for products. Rarely need to charge my phone in the car. Wondering if the charge pad could be disconnected?

That same link I sent you has a cheaper version without the charger. That way you can just have a place to put the phone.

Unfortunately, there's no option to turn it off and the fuse for the wireless charging is for other components as well, so that's not an option.

Thank you again. Android auto seems to affect my phone too if I can ever get it to connect. Thinking of switching to iPhone....

I didn't have any problems with my Android phone on charger pad, but I also didn't get any charge.... maybe because I had a fairly bulky phone case protector on it.

I have been increasingly happy with the combi 'dash display organizer/ phone mount' since my display is running cooler AND I can display whatever I want on my phone as an extra display or use it as a quick dashcam.

I have found my Pixel 6 pro started acting even weirder on the wireless pad after Android 13. IR: The screen stays on for long periods of time while charging and sometimes alternates on/off.

I gave up on that charging pad a while back. With wireless AA, my battery would drop even faster because it would heat up the phone so hot it would drain quicker. It's a failure, so I just moved on to an alternate solution.

The built in wireless charging pad does not charge my phone (galaxy s22) while it's running wireless android auto. Lately I've taken to just not trying to charge my phone at all when I'm driving since all that happens is my phone runs warm/hot and doesn't charge

Does the wireless charger you linked to on Amazon work better? It is wireless and AA will still run wirelessly, so shouldn't it have the same issues?

Yes it's a QI charger. It charges wirelessly. I don't have issues with it and AA.

Thanks. I have to weigh the pros/cons as I have been looking for a solution. I like to have a case on my phone and I think the magsafe solution needs to stick directly onto the phone.
