Lately I've noticed longer than normal Jail Bars on my GTPE (post recall patch). Just starting the car today after a 10 minute prestart in the driveway and I have already earned 3 jail bars. After a 30 minute drive to work on a flat freeway around 60 MPH with one medium acceleration im in 10 jail bar mode. After turning the car off for 2 hours and then turning it back on I'm still at 10 jail bars. This is a change from previous trips to work where I'd start with zero bars from my driveway and earn 3 or 4 jail bars max after arriving at work.

Anyone else seeing more jail bars since patch? Any chance this is an early sign of the HVB Switch Problem?

I suggest you go to the thread of people with FDRS accounts and has someone to check your VIN for DTCs.

After 10 hours in parking lot it’s still 10 bars. Drove home it’s 12 bars ?

I don't own a GT... what is a jail bar?
It's a indicator of performance limitation located visually below the GOM

@Valkyrie As for the OP, as winter approaches it's normal to see jail bars in the morning when starting the car, but if you want me to check your VIN for DTCs send me a DM and I'll check into it.

It is NOT an early sign of HVBJB issues, as that doesn't exist. If however you are receiving SVS with the jail bars that's an indication that it needs to be replaced and an early warning of imminent failure.

He lives in Hawaii Todd. Winter for him is overnight lows in the mid 60s.

Doesn't matter. There's many posts about this exact same phenomenon last winter with the GTs. It's as if Ford programmed the car to say during these months you shall show jail bars. I've started to see them myself over the last couple weeks with lows at 61 and parked indoors, so probably 70 at the lowest since our highs are still in the 90s.

Here's one example from earlier this year, where he describes it's normality in the winter, within the same temp range.

I'm not saying there's nothing wrong, which is why I offered to check, but I think in general we are going to see these comments come up more and more since it's entering that time of the year and there's a whole crap load of people who haven't had their GT's over winter.

I think a check or using a OBD reader would be appropriate. If nothing else it’ll give him more info to use in dealing with a dealer.

Honolulu temps are more mild than those in the Greater Sacramento Metropolitan Area this time of the year. Kona is another story. But still a reasonable simile.

The presence of jail bars this time of the year in your case is bizarre. Not even an unpaid intern could’ve thought that was a good idea. But then again, a lot about the GTs just doesn’t make logical sense, particularly in hindsight.

Yeah it’s been warm sea breeze pattern here lately. No temperatures below say 70 F.

I'm just opposed to comments instructing him to take it to a dealership. If there's no DTC, he's wasting his time and the dealerships time. They won't do anything for him if there's nothing showing. The car will telemetrically report if there's issues.

Dealerships are already under staffed and people have month long delays. If it's just a couple bars due to environmental or charge related heat/SOC then it's something we just have to deal with. If it's P0ADA/E then he needs to have the HVBJB replaced.

Weird cause I haven’t charged in four days, level 2 at my house. Never seen 12 bars before. Charging it now will see where the bars are at in a few. Added my VIN to the post above. ☝?

There is very little chance of a problem being resolved by Ford unless issues are reported to a dealer and logged by the dealer.
