That's cheating!

Kindof like me using a PL2320 and realizing I was about to be hosed during the IPC update (3+ hrs) as the voltage dipped down to 10.5 before I got my Powerboost alongside with jumper cables to help out the underpowered booster back in the BlueCruise programming days. Went right out and bought the PL6100 after that emotional event.
You could have just bought a second PL2320, that’s what I run while updating. Dual PL2320’s get the job done and cost a lot less than a PL6100.

Well honestly that never occurred to me that two of them in parallel would work like that. But it's all good and I'm glad that works for you. I'm sure like me you also have other things to use chargers and tenders on, so the PL2320 is put to good use in other ways.

What?!? Genius! I might as well do this since I currently do nothing since one doesn’t really do anything for the updates the actually need it lol. Way easier to just add one more to the mix than upgrade to the tank power supply.

You'll need to download the FDRS and VCI software. Then you buy the license and put that code in. I thought there was a thread on this somewhere?

You don’t actually need the VCI software if you use the Mongoose. But you do need to install the Mongoose driver.

I understand what you're saying, and somebody else told me that before, but then couldn't get FDRS to recognize the Mongoose until he had installed VCI.

Worst case, he will have a software package that might not be needed. Best case, it will all work.

Obviously, he can try it both ways and let us know.

Yeah, it'll add VCI adapters as options in FDRS, but it won't hurt anything. The Mongoose driver will still need to be installed either way.

When doing the updates that require the USB drive plugged into the console, does it matter if you use the USB-C vs. USB-A port? I'd think a USB-C flash drive would probably update faster, but I don't want to screw things up on my first time out.

It doesn't matter. They both seem to operate at the same speed, so the car is probably USB 3.0 on both of them. Depending on the drive and your computer, it may be faster to use USB-C when writing to the drive though.
