I could definitely see damage if it was installed all the way back as you could get 1/2” of clash between the two parts. Hit a bump at lock on an auto toss course or something and I bet there would be a broken component. I’m wondering if Steeda employee was measuring full lock like I was trying to when I was by myself - the wheel turns back 10* or so, and you don’t get an accurate representation of full lock. It definitely gives the appearance of clearance that isn’t there under actual full lock.

I still haven’t gotten my grinder out and paint yet to fix mine. Home alone with 2 kids and 9 horses so I likely won’t be able to get it done until the weekend.

If my bars were not already in my car I would grind or cut before installing. We have a number of GT-PEs that have this interference issue, so I assume it’s a design challenge. ?‍?

Hell, if you want to drive up to my place I’ll grind your front bar and repaint the tips for you. I still need to grind a touch more off of the inboard sides of mine this weekend. Much easier to grind out of the car than once they’ve been installed. ??

If based the current feedback, the only fix is to grind or ,as most have said, cut off the tip, then I will do that before I install the sway bar. I will probably put it on the most aggressive setting, so the last hole will never be used.

@HuntingPudel I may take you up on your offer to help me cut the tip off. I think I have a cut-off wheel that I can use. I know I have a reciprocating saw, a dremel and the very least a good hacksaw. I will get back you in a few weeks when I have a free weekend.

Heh, if worse comes to worst and you’re going to the Cars and Coffee event in Palo Alto I can bring my cordless sawzall, a file, and the spray paint there and we can make some noise. ??

So I did my own little chop shop action today and I'm pleased with the results. Sawzall and belt sander FTW.

Black paint since the grabber-esque blue bar color would clash with my IBSM paint... (Paint was still a bit wet here. The finish is satin.)

Oh, and I think I figured out why Steeda made the front ends too long ?:

Only checking the static clearance isn't good enough. When driving the vehicle the springs could compress due to roll or bumps and close that gap. That's probably what's happening.

I don't think the required clearance is going to be gained just by shifting the bar forwards or backwards with the adjustment in the bushing brackets. Seems like the only way is to cut off the ends so you have more like 3/4" of clearance at full lock to allow for suspension travel.

Personally I wouldn't install this until the ends are cut off or modified. Steeda seems to be avoiding a redesign here as much as possible to save retooling costs, but I think it's necessary.

No, just the softest one. You need to cut it off to prevent interference with the suspension. Go back through this thread to get the full story.

You still made the right decision to do this mod, but it requires a little more work for the front to be good. You don't need the softest setting anyway. You should go to the stiffest hole, as @markboris recommended to me. And I would not even consider going softer. Softer isn't even the right word. Less support when your corner is "softer"?

Wow, Dremel. You have patience. I’m thinking that my Dremel will be my only recourse unless I want to pull the bar out of the car (not gonna happen). I already ground ~3/8” off of the tips and I heard contact leaving my driveway for work on Friday. Not working on it today. Too lazy LOL. ??
