Hello, Matt! Send us a private message with your VIN and the name and location of your local Ford dealer. I’d be happy to see what I can do to assist with this CarPlay concern. Thanks!
This isn't an isolated issue. Anyone who's been upgraded to 3.5.3 and beyond has issues. The Ford Software team really screwed the pooch with the advanced dual phone feature, among other "upgrades".

Profile switching is thoroughly broken, phone connectivity is not reliable, and since this software "upgrade", whoever enters the vehicle by way of PaaK, doesn't automatically get their phone connected to Sync, if you have another PaaK also entering the vehicle.

Tell your people to do better.

Have not had the AA not connecting issue or the profile one but since 3.5.3 my Bluetooth audio has sudden pauses and lags going through tracks. 3.5.3 also caused my driver door to stop opening again unless I press the fob or open the back door first.
The sudden pauses aren't the MME's fault. I have experienced that using AA in several rental cars lately.

PAAK does not matter, my wife does not have Ford Pass on her phone, nor does she use Carplay. Her phone just connects via Bluetooth for calls. This causes my phone to not connect automatically when I get in the car after she has driven it. Then my Carplay may not connect, only Bluetooth.

I have PAAK on my phone, but always carry the fob, because PAAK is too flaky.

I just want to know who decided it was okay to remove the ability to specify your priority phone in the Phone List screen. In what world is this be an appropriate software development decision? I refuse to believe it was a mistake or oversight.

But PaaK is still part of the issue, because the vehicle is recognizing it, among other connected devices entering the vehicle. There's just some crappy software-based workflow happening within Sync, when multiple drivers are getting in the vehicle, with devices Sync has seen before.

I get in the car by myself and it connects to my wife's phone, which is in the house. That never happened prior to these updates. Basically, if she drove it last, it connects to her phone for calls, That is just dumb.

I wonder how long we'll have to wait to see a fix for this mess... I wonder if the engineers actually drive these cars like regular owners do on a daily basis.

Right, I put this issue largely at Google's feet. The AA app was recently updated on my Galaxy S22 (i.e. latest model) and now the audio frequently cuts out and there is significant lag when changing tracks via the steering wheel or the touch screen.

Google has been on a software upgrade/revamp tear as of late. I've noticed all kinds of issues across its software products and services. This is why I'm more inclined to blame Google for AA issues than Ford.

They can't possibly ?. I mean God I hope they don't think the status quo is acceptable.

I think mine does that, especially if that location contains a previously paired iPhone. My car will always prioritize a previously paired iPhone over my Android every time.

I love fast iterative software delivery, but I'm worried that Ford is too aggressively focused on getting updates deployed as fast as possible without the necessary capabilities and controls to do it successfully. No fast feedback loop (instrumentation and monitoring, or even EA user feedback), and apparently no fast remediation capabilities (rollback, roll forward). Not even to mention testing....

I did look back at my profile. Now you can't add one, delete one or set anything about my profile other than memory seat position. Everything else is grayed out. pretty much of a mess. In addition I have two PAAK saved. I can delete the newer one, but not the other. I press delete and nothing happens. I mean this is software and software is generally riddled with bugs at some stage or another. Question is how quickly these things can get patched. In the meantime it has become quite unpleasant to workaround constantly. and distractions while driving tend to be much worse than other digital distractions.

Went away from the car for s while and then profile edit are isn't grayed out anymore, but this system is really finicky.
