Drove my wife's 22 which is on 3.5.2 and it has none of the stuttering my 3.5.4 software has on my 21.

In the last two weeks, I've gotten both the 3.5.3 and 3.5.4 OTA updates. Since then, I've had issues with both my wife's phone (iPhone) connecting to CarPlay and my phone (Android) connecting to Android Auto.

Additionally, neither of us can select a car profile despite them being tied to the memory seat buttons - the seats adjust according to our memory seat settings, but the profile stays on guest no matter what. Manually trying to change the profile doesn't work either.

Has this happened to anyone else? Do I have to wait for 3.5.4.1 to fix it or is there a way to resolve either or both of these issues?
Hello, Matt! Send us a private message with your VIN and the name and location of your local Ford dealer. I’d be happy to see what I can do to assist with this CarPlay concern. Thanks!

Same exact thing has happened to me. Profile stuck at 'GUEST' and unable to change to anything else. CarPlay is great when it works but also sometimes can't connect. Def introduced with the last few updates.

Some people on another thread recommended opening up an additional test profile. I did that and problems went away. Might have been coincidence but you might want to try it.

Been keeping track of this and for me, it happens about 1 in 3 starts. No real pattern.

The CarPlay issues have diminished for me over the past 5 days or so. Still far more common than before (rare vs occasional), but nowhere near as bad as after the updates.

I should have been more clear in my statement. The 1 in 3 issue is the profile going to guest and no able to change. The CarPlay not connecting is about 1 in 10

CarPlay connections have always been intermittent for us. I haven’t noticed any difference with the recent OTA’s. We are currently at 3.5.3.3.

After the recent 3.x updates, our Android Auto was fully broken for both our phones. Had to delete and re-add them.

However, at one intermittent point, I'd deleted and added my phone back, via USB connection. It appeared with a different name; IIRC, "Google Pixel 6 Pro" (before it was just Pixel 6 Pro). This was welcome, as our phones both appeared as "Pixel 6 Pro" before, and, given the shenanigans with who's who in general (I'd often get her profile, or at least her seat position, when getting in the car), it was easy to tell which phone was which.

However, I had no bluetooth connectivity, so I deleted the phone again and paired it. Then it was back to Pixel 6 Pro. The Mrs' phone was having issues, so deleted and re-paired it, and now things seem good. But...It's still not clear immediately who's phone connects when we both get in the car. Especially since the "Both of you can use your phone!" feature.

And so, my point (and I do have one) is that (a) I wish they could get this phone biznez straight, and (b) it would be VERY NICE if they let you rename your phone, so it'd be clear which one it is. Our 2011 Nissan Leaf did that!

Lon, I mentioned in the 12/6 build thread that you can rename your phone. Go to settings then about phone.

THANK!
YOU!

This is another sticking point for me, that the control layout on the screen is somewhat schizophrenic. And I work in tech.

It took us both a quite a while to figure out how to turn off Ford navigation when it would randomly start barking directions at us (and we've never used it intentionally).

I think Ford screwed something up with the dual phone support. Every time I get into the car after my wife drives it, it is connected to her phone, which is in the house. Once I drive away mine will connect but Carplay may not engage. I can no longer find the priority setting for the phone either, that seems to have gone away. I did do a Sync reset while away from home and got Carplay to work yesterday.

But, I have had no issues with profiles.

Definitely less reliable connecting to CarPlay since 3.5.3.3. APIM reset may work or not, then the next time I get in, it's normal again.

I didn't notice this at 3.5.3, but there was only a day between these updates.

My phone is the only one connected. We removed FordPass from my wife's phone. And it doesn't seem to make a difference if she's in the car or not.

Yep. The priority setting for the phone is gone. :(

I have Android and the family has Apple. My son and I park next to each other at the office (where the charging spaces are). Yesterday we both left work at the same time. I get in my car and the Android connects and I attempt to call my wife at home. Son walks by and my car drops my phone and connects to his. Now I get his Spotify or whatever he is listening to.

I put some distance between my car and his as to get out of bluetooth range and then have to manually choose my phone from the list to re-connect. During that process I come up on a red light and my son slides in right next to me at the intersection. Pairing interrupted and his phone connects to my car and I hear his music again.

Later when I pull into the driveway, my car connects to her iPhone in the house and I hear whatever she is streaming on her phone. Very frustrating.

At this point the only thing that I can think to do is delete all the phones from the paired list except for mine. (I still have one of my old cell phones pair to the car since it has PaaK loaded on it).

Aren't updates great? ? So glad I signed up for this crap....
