Love 1PD...just wish it was easier to access (SW update?), or better actually up on the steering wheel to engage when needed ASAP

Not quite the same thing but the L button is Unbridled regen on demand. (Which you might like...)

1PD should remain enabled from one drive to the next. Are you having to turn that on for each drive?

No, am good there-will try the L Mode through in UnB. Lately been in 1-pedal for all local driving. Love whisper on Highway... but when I see I should slow down, engage 1-pedal for the brief stop and go. Then want whisper back on to rip and relax. Am toggling between Apple Car Play and accessing the setting. Have long arms but sometimes I miss the target 1-pedal button. Having it available on the home screen at the bottom would be a good option. Getting picky I know, but love the experience and want more love.

I know several owners that love Whisper + 2PD and use L for the situations you describe. "L" is easy to find without looking. I use it frequently myself. I think the "L" button is a fantastic feature of this car.

You will still have to use the brake pedal to come to a complete stop but so it isn't exactly the same as 1PD but a nice alternative.

Yeah, they could make it easier to switch, but even one touch is too much of a hassle for me. I just pick my favorite and get on with my life. For me, that means one pedal at all times. Works fine.

I just wish the transition point between regenerative braking and mechanical braking was smoother and more consistent.

Better yet, I wish that Ford would not do regenerative braking with the brake pedal. Therefore you can control the braking, making it smoother.

Wil never happen because the EPA range rating would be negatively affected and that is an important metric that folks consider during the purchase process.

This is the way tesla does it, and they can fudge their EPA range rating just fine.

Really? I find that illogical....but we are talking about Tesla so I guess maybe this is true.

Create two profiles that are identical to each other but one is 1PD and another is 2PD, and switch between them using the buttons on the door.

Not as convenient as the steering wheel, but pretty close.

I use 2 PD and my braking is smooth as silk. I can not feel any transition.

Probably because there isn't any - unless it's holding you on a hill there's no particular reason the car can't stop entirely on electrics. On a hill, though, they could definitely work on smoothing out the transition.

As near as I can tell from data logging stopping events. The MMe blends in the friction brakes in 2PD to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. It does this when the voltage from regen drops below HVB and therefore is not directly able to harness the energy anyway.

In 1PD, the car appears to have a genius way of achieving negative torque even when the voltage falls below that threshold. It looks like the voltage is recycled back through the circuitry in a loop, collected and then dissipated slowly after the vehicle is brought to a complete stop.

So both methods create waste heat to bring the vehicle to a complete stop but in different ways. The 1PD way would be smoother at lower states of charge. There is also a situation where the vehicle may use friction brakes at speed vs regen because it can actually harness more energy that way.

Regen strategies are evolving rapidly and really quite interesting what the EVs are capable of these days.
