Awesome shots of the mechanical stuff we never see in the demo cars. It occurs to me just how strikingly different this car is engineered from the Bolt or Mini from a serviceability standpoint. For instance, the sheer amount of what appear to be rubber coolant lines running behind plastic panels, especially with a RWD design is considerable. The traditional FWD design of the Bolt and Mini have accessibility that most are accustomed to with a traditional ICE. Even dropping and swapping out the traction battery in the Bolt is straight forward. That clearly does not appear to be the case in the MME. One can only assume that Ford is banking on lower operating pressure and coolant temperatures providing a lifetime duty cycle of these components that matches the car. Similarly access to key electrical components is completely concealed and the motors are placed inline with the drivetrain over support members. Thankfully there's little data to suggest servicing these components will be required.

I have no reason to believe that Ford is making the wrong bet, but it's a bold one. If you watch the Weber State tear down videos of the Bolt you can see that removing the traction battery, cooling system and electric motors is quite analogous to servicing an ICE drivetrain. You end up with a car shell and passenger compartment fully intact. From this I don't see how that would be possible with the MME.

this short one you can translate to English
Why translate? Spanish is easy to learn to speak and understand, since it is the most used langusage in the American Hemisphere, and the third most spoken in the world. Eeven the French, Italian, and Portuguese nations speak and understand Spanish as a second Latin based language. And it is the second spoken language in the United States (over 60% of the population speak and understand it). Just look at the many States that were Spanish colonies from California to FLorida, and more, before the British took over.

Learn Spanish and increase your cultural understanding.

Because most people can't learn Spanish in a few hours...

Like I said, I really like those numbers. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a typo!
It reflects the latest build dates that came in today with very late orders being made in Feb

More eye candy for you fellow mache fans.

Very nice!
Things I found interesting.....
  1. One of the best lit assembly plants I have ever seen. I bet the workers love it.
  2. We get a Ford oval on the car after all. Makes me happy.
  3. Coolant system looks very much almost exactly like the FFE system which is good because I think that systems works quite well. The rear motor is tied in so it looks like 3 or 4 loops depending on RWD/AWD.
  4. Looks like the rear IDM assembly is made somewhere else. Notice the cover on the rear disks and a metal flanged hex hut to retain the disk for shipping where the front disks are retained by a plastic keeper.
  5. Those motor mounts are huge!

Large diameter but very thin. But since this is a BEV, maybe we don't really need the brakes to have a lot of mass? I wonder if the larger diameter and special caliper design allows plenty of stopping power if/when the situation ever is needed without a huge weight penalty. Unsprung weight is a big deal when it comes to vehicle handling dynamics.

Yes they are made by Borg Warner. You can check out the components thread where we discuss it in depth
