So many ways to spin numbers like that. Every industry has tax deductions (often characterized as subsidies). If you really want to see it all put in perspective, you have to look at effective tax rates. And guess what... Energy companies (dominated by oil and gas) pay the 2nd highest effective tax rate of any major industry.

Fossil fuel companies should have an an asset tax of 100%.

Just because he is green doesn’t mean it’s money in your pocket. The Gov. of Washington calls himself green but that translates to more fees for BEV owners.

That's just silly spin. But I'm not gonna waste my time trying to change your mind because I know that'll never happen. I just posted that to put in perspective for other people's benefit.

Good night.

True but not every industry requires the US to defend its supply line. You responded to the tax part but not the military expenditure part.

Oil is only a strategic commodity because we need it for transportation. If we didn't need oil we wouldn't be funding Middle East regimes which sponsor terrorism. The CIA has been telling us for years the best way to kill terrorism is to kill oil. Plus it has the great benefit of killing Russia, which at this point is a petrol economy with a government intent of disrupting our interests.

I'm proud to serve, but would much rather rebuild middle America vs the Middle East.
Exactly. Electricity is by its nature locally produced by any number of methods. That means more price stability. It also means a double win: Locally producing electric vehicles wins on two scores -- local jobs to produce the product and local jobs to produce the fuel it needs to run on.

But the “US-Made” requirement, will be a disadvantage to MME.
I think the subsidy would have to include Mexico and Canada under NAFTA (or whatever new name they gave it). It would, however, apply to imports from other countries. Note in this regard that German companies tend to build vehicles in the US, such as VW assembling the ID.X in Chattanooga. The more interesting question would be the content percentage.

To answer you initial question, the tax credit won't change in any time frame we're interested in.

That used to be more the case decades ago, but not nearly so much now that we've become far more energy independent (due largely to tremendous O/G growth in the US over the last decade). We import less than 1 Mbpd from the Middle East now, and even that we could actually replace if need be.

We still choose to be the biggest peacekeeper around the world, of course. Although I do wish our allies picked up more of their share of that responsibility. Some progress on that has been made lately, but we're not there yet.

That is incorrect sir.
We are charged that $75 fee PLUS and additional $150 electric vehicle fee. Also, in Washington, new vehicles are subjected to a sales tax. With this tax credit, you'd be getting a rebate on the sales tax you pay up to $2,500 on new electric vehicles that cost less than $45,000. So MMEs don’t qualify.

I pay it twice a year so it’s $450. After the MME it’ll be $675 a year.

Most don't qualify. But the Select starts at $42,895 + $1,100 destination and delivery. It's still a really nice vehicle compared to similarly priced EV options.

I don’t think very many of those will be sold. ...Yes, a base model w/o any options does qualify. You still end up paying them more in the long run.
