This morning, Mach-E covered in heavy frost. Front of the car iced over from the night before (rain that froze later in the night). Active Grille Shutters tried to open when I started the vehicle this morning, but they didn't budge. Just wondering how well designed (and tested) this new "feature" is, and whether anyone else has had issues with it in the winter?

I'm sure if it was an issue, @Murse-In-Airy would have experienced it. It's been tested in Alaska, Norway, etc. Don't worry about it.

Hello! Could you send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd like to see how I can assist with this grille shutter concern. Thanks!

Active grille shutters have been on some Ford products for years. I don’t think these are “bleeding edge technology” (unlike the remote frunk release ?)

True they've been used for many years. But my understanding is that on the MME it's the first time the shutters have been on a 'first surface', meaning on the outside surface of the car (not behind the bumper or grill). Worst case maybe gently clear up that area before driving.

This should be have been tested already and therefore not an issue. The only issue I've had in that area is snow building up and blocking the ACC radar.

You can use a little heat to melt that if you want.

I'd try and thaw them out. The gears that turn those things are plastic and I would suspect vulnerable to wear/breakage. At $700+/- for the whole assembly, I'd make an attempt to thaw

I’m surprised some third party accessory maker hasn’t come out with “illuminated grill shutter covers” ?
