I really don’t like the render. Maybe it’s the color? I also saw a render of a Corvette EV SUV and that grossed me out. I guess I’m in the minority, but I think that the Mach-E as it currently exists is a great look vehicle.

Agree totally. The MME IMO is the best-looking EV out there.

According to AutoForeCastSolutions' comprehensive North American vehicle product map (just updated in November 2022) which has proven accurate in the past:

  • Current Mach-E (CX727 program) end of production: June 2026
  • Next gen Mach-E (CX733 program) start of production: July 2026 (ends 2033)
  • Mach-E Coupe (CX799 program) start of production: July 2026 (ends 2031)

I would love to see a true 'base model' of a BEV coupe, SUV, and truck.... with minimal electronics and basic instrumentation. hand-crank rollup windows, no power-seats, no giant center screen console, no auto-drive, etc. no navigation/entertainment screen, Intended to provide BEV performance at minimum cost/weight.

back to basics.... keeping only the minimum electronics/display instrumentation

Are you guys referring to access with the Keyfob or from the screen?
Neither. Specifically we’re talking about the frunk release button on FordPass. Even 2021 Job 1 models that have upgraded their software via FDRS to include the electronic frunk release on the Sync screen and from the door pillar buttons still don’t have the frunk button on our FordPass controls.

Additionally, the U.S.-spec MME key does not have a frunk button. A Lightning key can be paired with the car in order to obtain a key that has a frunk button, but good luck finding one. ??

... minimum content means minimum margin... means not gonna happen at least for a North American or European build.

The path for a really "cheap" EV will be an entry level Chinese brand. They are starting to show up in Europe, and will be here eventually.

The f150 pro is "cheap" at $40K but I'm guessing you mean much lower than that.

Ummmm, base price is 52k. For a pre order, even factoring in a 3.75k tax incentive, that’s 49k, for a pre order. Might have to wait for years of roll over. The entire EV landscape will have changed at that point.

I'd buy a coupe in a heartbeat. I don't want/need 4 doors.

I don’t know if it’s true, but I was told that the reason crank windows have died is because they’ve become more costly than electric windows. Apparently, there are more parts and complexity in crank window assemblies than in power windows. You’ll always have a screen because of regulatory requirements for a backup camera and a speaker for audio alerts, so tossing in some form of media player is “free”. I’m afraid your dream of an electrified “tin Lizzie” just won’t be in the modern era.

Um, if you want to see some horrific videos, look at European safety testing of contemporary Chinese domestic market cars. They make those 1950s American deathtraps look like the ultimate in passenger safety. Ugh.

For a mid-cycle refresh, I’m curious if there will be any hardware improvements like to HV systems & drivetrain. LFP pack would be nice to bring the cost down a bit and to let owners charge to 100% all the time.
Isn’t there a huge range hit with LFP because of the reduced energy density?

Not huge. IIRC it’s about equivalent to putting an SR battery in the ER space.

JFC I wish ford would give you job one people your frunk button so we can stop talking about it in literally every thread (regardless of thread subject). How bout I just come open your frunk every time you need me to? We can even program a Siri shortcut to text me and I’ll drive over and open your frunk. It’s basically a frunk button.
