How do I tell a '23 from a '22 on the street?

I'm still sitting waiting for my order from 9/7 to go into production, and every time my partner and I see a MachE on the street she says "is that a '23?" and I don't know how to answer.

We usually look at the tags to figure out if it's recently delivered or not, but obvs a '23 delivered in '22 has about the same tags. I could probably take a picture of the vin and look it up at home but I'm hoping someone here knows at a glance whatever small subtle thing that will tell a '23 model year from a '22 model year? Usually there's some small difference in the body fascia?

If you hear an AM radio station, it’s not a ’23.

Ask the driver how many issues they've had? If its a lot then its probably a 21 or 22.

Unless it's Vapor Blue, you can't tell from a glance. If you can see the VIN, you can tell by the 10th digit.

M = 2021
N = 2022
P = 2023

Unless it's Vapor Blue, you can't tell from a glance. If you can see the VIN, you can tell by the 10th digit.

M = 2021
N = 2022
P = 2023

Cool. That works if it's parked, which is mostly when we're peering at them.

My late 22 has no fingers in the cupholders. Early 21 has fingers. 22 seems to have less sound deadening by the rear motor as the hum is more noticable.

Going to be an adjustment as my '22 Lightning has AM and I use AM daily....

Yep, when the average useful life of a new vehicle was 3 years then the model year was more important to folks. From the 30's thru 70's.....every single model year had some sort of major design change (excluding the post war models of course....). They were fairly similar mechanically but the styling was changed in such a way to identify the model year. A shame really because there were some really great designs that only lasted 1 year because they felt the overwhelming need to make changes even though none were necessary.
