Cancel and re-order May be worth $7500 to you (or $3750 depending on the next IRS surprise).
It's also possible that normal lot inventory may become a common thing for MMEs soon. We're already starting to see some in stock at dealers as the market has softened in the last few months (as loan interest rates have soared).

If this $55k limit sticks for the tax credit, we may see a lot of cancelled MME orders showing up to dealer lots for sale in the 1st quarter of the year. Of course, those will be the ones with MSRP over $55k that don't qualify. But dealers may find they'll have to deal to move them (like the old days). Probably not with $7500 discounts, but maybe a few thou.

Then again, we still don't know whether the batteries will qualify for any or all of the $7500 either. This all could be moot after March if the batteries don't qualify.

Better yet, take the floor mats off completely, and wait for your FordPass points to show up from the car purchase. Then go in and purchase the floor mats from the Parts Dept and pay with your points. That's what I did.
Better yet. Buy the floor mats via your dealer's internet site, which charges a lot less, and then pay with points!

Deliveries before Jan 1st 2023 is under the old rules. You are safe. You can get the 7500 tax credit in the upcoming 2022 tax filing.
fueleconomy.gov doesn't list the 2023 MME in it's qualified tab for vehicles delivered before 12/31. I am concerned as my 2023 GTPE was delivered 12/7 to me. as well.

Qualifying vehicles orderd after 8/31

Thanks to everyone on this forum and especially those that were helpful in deciphering IRS rules. ?

When I first heard of this news, my heart sank; but thanks to those who constructively helped by checking my order and finding out my Premium MME will squeak in under the $55K limit by a mere $25 - by not including the D&D fee.

Because of you all, I will be taking delivery of my '23 MME next month and will be filing for the $7500 tax credit. ?

Effectively, the MME will now net cost around $39K before TTL.....

Ford Mustang Mach-E 2023 Mach-E priced over $55K & delivered in 2023 will not qualify for tax credit! Latest IRS ruling says Mach-E is a CAR - not SUV ! Screen Shot 2022-12-27 at 8.13.57 AM

That's what I did too (ordered them online for pickup at the dealer's Parts Dept). I wasn't aware it would be a different price if ordering in person at the Parts Dept. That surprises me. Every reference to it showed the same price as what it would have been if added it to the car order.

Are you in a state with a high local EV subsidy?

I got a 2022 Premium AWD long range last week. I still qualify with the tax credit, right? And I was also just approved the 2k rebate from State of California.

Some dealers don't have a web presence. Some use Ford, and apply a small discount. Others use a 3rd party and apply a bigger discount.

Full interior protection package is $240 ordered with the car.

Parts are $185 for front and back mats, $145 for the back, total of $330.
My dealer's website sells them for $155.40 and $121.80, total of $277.20. If I walk up to the Parts counter, the price will be close to $330.

After carefully reading the IRS information on the tax rebate, I went to my dealer this afternoon and dumped the "Rapid Red Metallic" paint and the "Interior Protection Package" from my 11/25 MME Premium, RWD, STD Range. I can live with a different, standard color and I can get the Protection Package items separately (although for more money), but I can't live with just missing the tax rebate by a few hundred dollars. I did really want the red color, though. Oh well. Next car!

I have to say also that I went into this on 11/25/22 understanding that there may not be any rebate at all if I take delivery in 2023 but crossing my fingers that there would be one, so I'm very happy that I could qualify for a rebate and only needed to make a minor adjustment to my order in order to do so.

Like others have mentioned, I am also quite surprised at how many people say that they are pulling the plug (pun intended) because of the IRS rules. I wonder how many of those plug-pullers did that because the MME they wanted became unaffordable, rather than because they were no longer getting a tax break. It seemed like the latter based on what I've read here.

I'm a Minnesota high school teacher and I gross about $86,000 a year. I understand that the cost of living in some parts of the country (talkin' 'bout you, Bay Area) makes people who gross $150,000+ and couples who gross $300,000+ have less buying power than it might seem to those of us who live in lower-cost areas. That's unfortunate and I agree there should be some consideration and a sliding scale, not a cliff. I would have been able to keep my red color!

But please remember that this law (and accompanying IRS rules) was designed to lower the cost of entry-level EVs for people who otherwise might not be able to afford them (that's me), not to give the relatively affluent/very affluent yet another tax break! If you fall into the latter category and this is why you are upset, your complaints are falling on deaf ears. I'm barely squeezing into a Premium and I'm happy to finally be able to afford a decent EV that isn't a tiny, ugly box on wheels and can begin the process of reducing my carbon footprint and start setting an example for my students.

That sounds familiar. Maybe I did get a discount.

In any case, purchasing the floor mats later is a great way to use up the FordPass points earned from the car purchase. And they're great floor mats too. They were better than I expected them to be.

I didn't get the cargo mat though. Didn't want that. I like to leave mine with the carpet. Got some great velcro dividers that work really well on it too.

I think i fucked myself by getting rapid red and floor mats. The floor mats should be easy enough to work through. Can ask the dealer to make that a separate transaction. But the paint is an option and puts my RWD Premium over 55k
I had the exact same car. Mine is not yet in production so I went to my dealer today and changed color and got rid of the mats. Is it too late for you to do the same?
