This is fascinating. It’s a bit of an endless cycle going from one definition to another. I don’t quite understand how the 3 row model y made it as an suv considering the frame and body is the same and it has less cargo space than a 2 row.
My very cursory interpretation of the code would say it’s the “one or more rear seats readily removed or folded to facilitate cargo carrying” that differentiates them.

If you do not have a build date I would call my dealer and drop that $400 package like a hot potato.
I do not have a build date yet and am anxiously awaiting a call back from the sales manager at the dealership.

eta: got a call back from the sales manager, options have been removed and my MSRP is now $54,975. And I found out my priority code is 10 which I didn’t previously know.

So thank you to these forums, you saved me a lot of heartache!

So unless the Mach E gets changed to SUV by the IRS by the end of 2023, the majority of our car over $55,000 basically have no benefit from the “options” plan anymore? It’s essentially a lease at this point for most states that don’t have a state level tax credit? Michigan doesn’t have a credit, so I’d get $500 and really a “lease” that I can buy out at the end? Is this correct?

4.49% apr and $2000/$500 incentives. I wonder if the Mach e geometry will change (raised ride height) for 2024.

if you lease the car, there is no buyout option:

I saw someone ask earlier in thread but have not seen an answer yet. I took delivery of my 2023 premium ER RWD MME on 12/19/22. I placed the order for it on 8/30/22; is it eligible for the $7500 tax credit?

Options was designed to let you 'lease' the car and still get the tax credit. But there was also sometimes a cash incentive. If you NEED to lease the car, that incentive, if offered, might still be enough reason to do it.

Crucially, though, this is NOT a lease; Options is a balloon installment loan. Ford's standard lease on the Mach-E now includes language that doesn't allow you to buy the car out at the end of the lease. (Ford wants those batteries back!) Options does not have this limitation because it's structured as a loan, with the option to sell to Ford. The lease is the other way around, Ford has the option to sell to you.

Deliveries before Jan 1st 2023 is under the old rules. You are safe. You can get the 7500 tax credit in the upcoming 2022 tax filing.

I didn't see MY23 listed for MME; IRS web page only showed MYs 21 and 22. Here's to hoping we get it but we love both our MMEs (we also have a 22 select that we took delivery of on 7/1/22). Ordered 23 premium with the understanding that it might not be eligible for tax credit.

Although I am not in the market for another MME. I got to say it just sucks. Definitely a big step backward for EV adoption. Near $60K MSRP for a SR AWD premium? Select does not even offer heated steering wheel and seats anymore. If I am in the market for a new car today, I will probably get an ICE luxury brand and spend all the extra $$ saved on gas. Will be quite a few years until it hits that $60K.

Does the max MSRP apply to MME's delivered between 8/16/22 and 12/31/22? Trying to research that now.

Edit: MY23 MMEs delivered prior to 12/31/22

I ordered a Premium RWD Std. Range on 11/25. Still waiting for VIN, etc.

MSRP is $54,975. Am I good? Looks like it, but... nervous!
