How do I lookup my Mach E's build date?

BLUF : I want to be able to lookup the build date of the Mach E I just bought from the dealer. I didn't order it; I walked in and bought it. I'm worried about HVBJB issues older builds have.

Background : I just impulse bought a 2022 Mach E Premium AWD Ext Battery (Ice Blue). I wanted to buy before the Mach E lost the $7,500 tax credit (IRS said Dec 29 that it is a sedan with a MSRP cap of $55K). Anyway, the one I bought was on the showroom and I don't know how long it's been there. I know the Mach Es built earlier a while ago may have HVBJB issues... I'm just curious if I should be worried.

Just so you know, what you did may not qualify for the tax credit, although your situation is a bit better because the car is actually at the dealership.

While you did complete the paperwork, you did not take delivery or possession.

Me - I'd head back there today if they are open, and drive the car a mile, then a mile back, and take a picture of the odometer before (which will match your paperwork), and after. Then give them the car to do whatever they were doing to it, and keep one key and take it home.

The IRS rules state:

If you purchased a vehicle between August 16, 2022 and December 31, 2022 but don't take delivery of the vehicle until 2023, see Credit for New Clean Vehicles Purchased in 2023 and After.

It then states:

To claim the credit for a vehicle you took possession of in 2022, file Form 8936, Qualified Plug-in Electric Drive Motor Vehicle Credit (Including Qualified Two-Wheeled Plug-in Electric Vehicles) with your 2022 tax return. You will need to provide your vehicle's VIN.

Last week of May.

Someone on the FDRS Help thread can check your VIN and give your Build Date, if it comes to that.

I would not give it a second thought, personally.

Provided it was not grossly marked up, I would be rather surprised if it was sitting there for over four months. Which is to say it was likely built after May 25th. My MME (same trim and model year) was built in April 2022. I picked it up May 27th and at that time most cars were still filling pre-orders; i.e. demand and inventory turn was still very high.

Very true... didn't think about that.

From what I have read, a very high percentage of the issues were from GT or GT Performance
trims. My SR RWD Mach E Premium was built January of 2021. I picked it up in March 2021 and has
had no issues since taking delivery.
