The real problem isn't the tax credit or lack there of, it's the fact that EV's cost too much. It's up to the manufacturers to figure out how cost will be reduced and make more affordable to consumers.

Yes, I am. When I ordered in August there was no guarantee of a tax anything. Given I am in NY and not rich, I fully expect to get screwed out of anything the federal government would offer. I keep seeing people posting, the car isn't worth it, I guess my argument would be, no car is ever worth it, it is worth less the 2nd day you own it. I want the EV experience, hate Tesla, and like the Ford style. Are EVs too expensive yes, I guess that is the early adopted fee? I also buy an iPhone too early, have a smart home, and pay too much for TVs. I work hard and like to have nice things.

The only thing that would really prevent me from moving forward is if the delivery is delayed again, and I start to lose real money on my trade-in. It should be here in 10-14 days and I am really looking forward to it.

What did you order - MSRP less D&D ?
Are you getting the PCO ?

I agree with you - hate the Tesla style and love the Ford EV designs.
Very early adopter - going head first into my first full BEV: early adopter '22 F150 Lightning without even test driving it, most expensive vehicle purchase, and it was a stunning good EV truck.

Now that I have had it for 6 months, it doesn't fit my driving habits and commute so I am selling her and replacing with my '23 MME, arriving next week.

If it wasn't for the $6K PCO and $7500 tax credit, I would not get the '23 MME and continue with the Lightning.

I abandoned my order. Made me sick. All over the damn floormats. I think I am going away from Ford for an EV though. They just screwed this up so bad. We like the Mach-E we have but for the same price as the ME Premium we were going to buy we can now get a Mercedes EQB and I think that is the route we will take once the IRS makes a ruling on it. Mercedes has applied but it has not been published.

I ordered the Premium AWD, I am not getting any special pricing, this is a new 23 order.

MME Premium AWD ER

Hopefully the IRS changes the rules soon. The current pricing of a 2023 AWD Premium ER is tough to justify IMHO especially without the tax credit. First you'd have to be very committed to an EV, otherwise you're comparing with vehicles like a Porsche Macan (pretty nice ICE, even if it's not your cup of tea), then you need to somehow pick the MME over similar EV offerings from other manufacturers in this $65k+ price point, which IMHO are pretty stiff competition. Just my thoughts.

After the info was released, I decided to let my unscheduled 2023 Premium AWD go. The MSRP was just under $60k.

The dealer I ordered it from had a 2022, same package on the lot. Worked out a deal $1500 over MSRP, which left the price under the $55k rebate cutoff. Picking it up soon.
Your deal has nothing to do with the cutoff - it's 100% based on the MSRP, less destination. Irrelevant what you paid.

I've had a good experience with my 2021 MME, but a horrible dealership experience for all recalls. I'm actively cross shopping options now as my MME is at 18k miles and still has a reasonable trade in value. My issue is not much put there gets me excited the same price range. In the next week I may just gamble this sum vs car gets worked out and order a 2023 Premium RWD with the extended range battery as cold weather range is my only real issue with my 2021.

I also don't think you can get 300 mile plus range in any EV competition now

You definitely can in a BMW i4 RWD, Model 3 LR, Lucid Air, Model S. But in warm weather and they are all sedan shaped.

For 300+ miles in an SUV form... it's basically the BMW iX or Lyriq - with massive 100+ kWh packs.

i am sticking, think I said so in the other thread. I will very likely be above the income limit, and knew it.

I also think ev pricing is under appreciated because maintenance costs are lower. Although this will be 2x more than I have ever paid for a car, I think gas prices will be rising another 2x to 6x in the next few years, so the only question is which ev to buy. not buying an ev doesn't make sense, and my analysis from two months ago is unchanged.

the twist discussed in ars technica today about leasers getting the 7500 even for foreign cars is interesting, I must admit.

Ok true enough but the ix is 100k, so I should emphasize 300 mile range in the low 60k price is hard to find

This keeps getting worse for me.
I placed my order in March of 2022. Build date is scheduled for mid-February. No idea why this has been so delayed and with the loss of the tax credit it is even more painful. I'm taking it personally.

Mach E... I hope soon.

I disagree with the “You like it at $X, you’ll like it at $Y” argument. I factor value into my relationship with my purchases. And tax breaks are tied to value.

I was a March ‘22 order and just now got built.

I am going to continue with my order. While the tax credit would have been nice it doesnt really affect the price of the MME, IMO. Since it is non-refundable, i'm not getting a check or anything i can use to reduce the loan amount.
