It seems the Mach E uses GPS to determine where your home is. I'm using a Grizzle E "dumb" charger and rely on the car to do the thinking. But the Ford App thinks my charger is actually next door at my neighbors (would be a lot cheaper that way). And that's what I have call my home address to schedule charging. Yesterday I plugged in and it thought I was 10 miles away at a random address and charged to 100% instead of my usual 80%. Anybody else see these anomalies? Do I have to get a smarter charger?

It has nothing to do with your charger. Periodically the car's GPS gets confused. It has happened to me two or three times. In a day or two it finds itself.

A smart charger will not prevent your car from charging more than your set level. The charger does not know the SOC of the car battery.

What a smart charger will do is help enforce your time schedule. If that matters to you.

I got my new 2023 last Friday. I can't get charging to use my preferred charging times because the car doesn't think it is charging at home. I live on a corner lot and sometimes the GPS thinks I'm on the adjacent street and not in my garage. It has only worked once in five nights of trying to charge.

Any ideas as to why my GPS is off.

If it’s off consistently (the “wrong” location is in the same place) I would set up your parameters for that location, too. Not a fix, just a workaround.

Does the nav work correctly for trips / routes?

I thought of adding another charging location for the bogus spot, but the charging screen will not let me add it because it says there are no charging locations to add.

The GPS for nav is correct.

Strange….once you charge there, it should show up. You might try deleting the home location and start over.

I have deleted and recreated my home charging location on the car a couple of times. One time it started correctly on my preferred start time, but ignored the charge limit of 85% and tried to charge 100%. All the other times it starts charging when I plug the charger into the car and ignores my preferred start time.

There seems to be a miscommunication/information problem being passed between the app and the car. The GPS on the car always seems correct and is accurate on the navigation screen, but the App sees the car at a different location.

The App is getting the cars GPS location from the car. As you can see on the App says it is charging at home, but when you click on the vehicle menu it shows the location of car on the wrong street. Confusion between the location of car and its charging location.

Is the pin correct on the Map tab?

My car is within 50' of correct on the map, but my garage roof doesn't block GPS signals very much.

On the app's map the pin location for the car is on the adjacent street and not my garage.

Pull down on the Home Screen to refresh data, then do it again 30 seconds later. Verify you have a refreshed time and see if the location changes on the map.

Did the refresh. The vehicle screen now shows the correct Home address, but the map pin is still showing the wrong address on the adjacent street, no change in its location.

Tonight I will refresh the app before plugging my charger into the car.

One thing I've noticed in some posts is a fascination with the app showing the wrong address. We recently visited our son, and after I charged I went to save the location. It showed us at an address on the adjacent street. But, the important thing was that it showed us there. Therefore, I saved it as "Son's House", and every time we pulled in while there it showed us there, and applied the settings. The fact that he lives at 52 Elm St and it showed us at 34 Birch St is a "who cares" situation.

Of course for many it shows the car "not home", and they can't get the location to match up. Just pointing out that for some it does, but the wrong address is meaningless.

Have not had this problem (yet). Used to have it with my Ford Escape Hybrid with optional GPS navigation. It would, sometimes, show the car at locations a block away. I found that by turning off the GPS navigation and after a minute or two, restarting it would correct the location. Apparently, the garage structure would interfere with the signal. Today, things should be better. Then again, there is more steel in housing construction which may interfere more with the GPS signals.
It raises the question of if this is happening to cars with GPS navigation, then why do we not notice it happening with cell phones, which rely on GPS to locate their preferred cell tower? Could it be that the cell phones are more tolerant of inaccurate locations so we do not notice them?

I just completed a app refresh and both the vehicle location and my home address matched!

I left the app running and plugged my charger into the car for the night. .... And it started charging right away, ignoring my preferred start time. UGH!! (Yes, "Use Preferred Time settings" was selected)
