Exactly this. I have zero concerns about my battery life. I grew tired of the fox battery FUD when I had my Prii. I keep my battery at 100% on an L1 or L2 EVSE in the winter and up around 90% on an L2 in the summer so I can quickly charge it to nearly 100% if we decide to do a spur-of-the-moment road trip. We drive it nearly every day so it doesn't sit at any particular state of charge for very long.
Agree - why worry when the battery warranty is 8 years ?

My PHEV I charge daily to 100% and it has a 10 year warranty which I have used half and not worried about the other half...

Also, even ignoring the warranty, the battery has a reasonable lifetime of about 20-40 years before there's 20% degradation. Even then it will still be usable and by then there will be refurbish options.

if you really want a general answer, i believe the idea is to keep your SOC around 50% as much as possible.

beyond that, there is no one answer, it’s going to depend on how far you need to drive on a daily basis, what size battery you have, how flexible you need your car to be, and even the weather.

maybe that means charging to 60% and arriving home at 40%. maybe it means charging to 80% and arriving home at 20%.

The manual tells you don't charge above 90% daily...

people read that guidance as telling you TO charge to 90 daily...

In the ICE world its like the manual saying don't rev your engine above 6500RPM...

and people reading that as rev your engine to 6500 RPM all the time because it is recommended in the manual.
Exactly this.

The closer to 50% the better, but I’ve read studies that show daily charging below 65% doesn’t make a difference for longevity vs say 55%.

Battery buffer is smaller up top than bottom so 90% displayed is closer to 88% actual. If you don’t need it, you’re unnecessarily stressing your pack.

Yes the battery warranty is 8 years, and yes you won’t see 30% degradation, but say in 10 years you had 20% degradation and somebody else has 10% degradation, who’s car is going to be worth more? It’s like adding another 25k miles to the odometer of an ICE vehicle, why throw away residual value?

I daily charge to 70% because I don’t need more. Use about 15% in winter 10% in summer for my commute. If it didn’t make a difference, Ford would not have given you the option to daily charge to below 80%.

I plug in every night and charge to 90%. I charge to 100% prior to taking trips and have DCFC 3-4 dozen times.

One year and 15000 miles later my battery state of health is reported as 99%.

We charge to 90% on Sunday night and we're good all week. SOC may end at 30%. If we have a weekend trip planed we'll charge to 100% SOC.

This is a myth. The manual does not say that. What it does say is: "Additionally, setting the maximum charge level to be less than 100% for everyday usage reduces strain on the battery."

Lots of people have said 90%, but the manual does not.
