It‘s FDRS. They need to update the BCM and GFM, and then run the routine in that screenshot to add the button. That’s it.
So there is no “second app” - all FDRS?

Correct. Update the BCM and GFM and then add the button. That's it.
Thanks! Anything to make “the conversation” easier is much appreciated ?

I feel like I really need to drive up there with FDRS just to do this for you. lol
Please don’t feel that - I’m actually annoyed with Ford for not doing the correct thing ? I’m trying the dealer route in two weeks

Correct. Update the BCM and GFM and then add the button. That's it.
How long does each of these updates take? Just trying to decide when I’ll have time to mess with it.

Did you happen to do this yet? I'm in the same boat. Even got my 3rd fob (lightning), programmed it, but the frunk button doesn't work because I don't have the latest BCM and GFM. I have no faith the dealer will know what im talking about and trying to properly formulate my request. Seems it should be something like "I need you to use FDRS to run the latest BCM and GFM updates, then run the FDRS tool routine to enable frunk button on Sync drive mode screen."

He did. His write up is over here at:

Though I imagine he’ll respond here in due course.

I’m in a different boat. My dealer will not do any module updates for any reason whatsoever unless there’s a specific TSB, SSM or CSP authorizing it. So my upcoming 2 year - 20,000 mile check will likely mean no Frunk release for me. ?‍♂

Well, I also had the Farley tweet in my back pocket and was going to try that card if I had to. Fortunately, they did those two modules.

6 week wait for an ev technician here. And that was before I told them about the various CSP’s. The TSB’s that need done and the like.

Ugh, I am sorry to hear that. Are your TSB issues reproducible and correctable by updates?

I would complain to Ford directly then. Tell them you have a Job 1 vehicle and that there is a known fix to enable the Frunk, but there's no TSB, SSM or CSP to address this. They will contact the dealer and give them the authorization that they need.

There’s only a single dealer on this island. Complaining about them is not in your long term best interests. it’s one of many reasons I rather dislike the current dealership system.

So don’t complain about the dealer to Ford. Tell them what your issue is and that you need them to give authorization to your local dealer to do the work to fix it. (And for the local dealer to get paid by Ford)
I’m surprised I haven’t seen the pop up by Ford yet asking you for your VIN and Dealer.
