My MME is not going to arrive before April 18th and will only get $3,750 tax credit.

I'd add that this would be only available to someone at the same dealer, i.e. you have a vehicle on order with dealer A, and dealer A has one on the lot (or is willing to do a dealer trade). It would not be fair to the dealer if you could do this anywhere, and then they get inventory that they may, or may not, want.

If anyone else is waiting on their order and you’re not able to transfer the APR/incentives/PCO to an already built 2023 at your dealer, and not in desperate need for a new car then I would wait and not cancel your order before delivery. This is a competitive EV market now, and Ford Motor Company will have to make some adjustments to the MSRP and/or add additional rebates or in-kind value (FordPass Points? EA Charging credits) to make up for the difference after the tax credit is reduced by half on April 19 and compete with Tesla and others manufacturers that will still get a full $7,500 credit for their EVs.

I thought about that - Ford would have to do something - like the Tesla price drops at the beginning of the year triggered Ford's price drops indicates that being competitive is important.

After 4/18, Ford may lose some sales because of the tax credit as some people do qualify and will calculate into the total cost of ownership...

On a happy note, I am in contact with Ford Twitter and they wanted to know if they can expedite / hotshot my vehicle.

This is my plan. Ultimately, I'm ok with $3750. I ordered at a higher price, knowing the tax credit was not guaranteed. I also wonder if Ford do a lease credit like other manufacturers are doing. Ford Options isn't available in my state - we also do not have any EV incentives.

Unfortunately, Ford keeps the $7500 on leases.

If Ford offers a $7500 cap cost reduction on leases then they will be competitive with other manufacturers like: Hyundai, Kia, Audi, VW, BMW, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Polestar, Volvo, etc....

Yes - I'm holding out a bit of hope they'll change that, before my delivery. My build is scheduled this week. Frankly, with only half the credit, leasing might be more attractive to me anyway.

Yes, my exact thoughts.
Because lease terms have not been favorable, many people are buying out their leases as soon as it starts and refinancing it as a new vehicle.

But I think Ford does not allow you to buy it out - or was it not to sell to a 3rd party ???

Ford won't let you buy out a lease on an EV vehicle. It goes back to them after your lease is up.

I ordered my MME-GT last October and it shipped last week and is scheduled to arrive May10-17 and will only qualify for half the $7,500 tax credit. I found the exact same MME-GT in stock at another dealer within 50 miles, it arrived at the dealer about 2 weeks ago and the customer who ordered it backed out of the deal. So I pulled the trigger on it and it will qualify for the full $7,500 tax credit. I another interesting thing is both had the exact same sticker price except the delivery charge on the sticker was only $1,300 because it was ordered earlier and not $1,800 that was on the one I order, the $500 will cover the $500 deposit I'm probably going to lose on my order. Not only will I get the full $7,500, but I'll get my GT a month earlier!!

Has anybody else waiting for their MME consider this option to get the full $7,500??
I did this exact thing on the 3rd of April... found one locally that was available, bought it and advised the dealership I ordered through that I wouldn't be taking delivery.

I can see a lot of abandoned orders after the 18th. I'm abandoning my backup order which is arriving late May. My dealer already has 6+ Mach-Es on the lot and all at MSRP or less.

Of course, I could be wrong, but somehow I don't think as many people are going to be abandoning their orders as some others might think, and I'm not referring to just @voxel just above. There are many others here who say or "threaten" the same thing.

I wonder if those that seem to be interested in the car largely because of the tax credit may be projecting their intentions onto others. I'll wager (rhetorically) that not as many people will abandon their orders as is the consensus here.

As I said, I could be wrong.

Yeah I tried that 7 years ago as well.

I would guess those that are bitter about it sit and just refuse to take delivery once it hits the lot.

The real play would be refuse delivery, get your deposit back and buy your car off their lot next month for less. If you arn't getting the $7500 TC you're not losing anything by sitting on it until mid may or later.

I think that's true.

I have leased a number of cars, and only bought one out. It made financial sense at the time. Generally, I prefer to lease a new car every few years anyway. Always under warranty, and I just have to deal with basic maintenance. My husband prefers to run a car into the ground. I have a pretty short attention span for cars -- and shoes.

Given how many Lightning folks have abandoned their orders/reservations - I think it will be fairly high. I don't know if it matters though because Mach-Es are piling up now - even before this halving of the tax credit. My dealer used to charge $10K markup 6 months ago but now zero . This is a massive dealership too. I popped by a few weeks ago and saw 12 (!!) full sized Broncos on the lot.

I got my window sticker today and at $63K it is $7K more than my price protected 22 Mach-E ($56K) that I am still driving. My other EV - an Ioniq 5 Limited AWD (with lease credit) is a bargain compared to the current Mach-E. I won't mention T because that's the real elephant in the room.

Personally, I'm not eligible for any tax credit in 2023... I planning to buy my R1S and Lyriq orders without one because I think they are worth it and completely ditch gas. The Mach-E is not worth $63K. It's a low 50s car to me.
